Total Fire Ban in place for today (Wednessay 28th January), with an Extreme Fire danger rating.

Report all fires to 000.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Central Ranges tomorrow (Monday 26th January).

The heatwave is expected to continue for this week, bringing with it unpredictable fire conditions.

No fire is to be lit in the open and any fire is to be reported to 000 ASAP.

At approximately 9.30pm on Friday 9th January the brigade was called to a fire on Fitzgerald Valley Road at Newbridge.

We were onsite at this fire until the following day and were faced with a few challenges throughout the night.

Thanks to all of the crews that we worked with overnight and to those who relieved us on Saturday.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Central Ranges tomorrow (Saturday 10th January 2026).

This covers the Orange, Cabonne and Blayney LGAs.

This means NO fires are to be lit out in the open.

General purpose hot works (welding, grinding or gas cutting) are NOT to be done in the open.

Please call 000 immediately if a fire is spotted.

Just a reminder to residents that permits for the Canobolas Zone are still unable to be issued.

This means that burning should not be taking place. It also means that waiting until later at night when it could be considered “safer” or to avoid being caught, should not be happening.

The Bushfire Danger Period is from 1 October until 31 March (typically) and burning without a permit is in breach of the Rural Fires Act 1997.

We ask all residents to remain vigilant and to immediately call 000 to report any fires.

The last few days have been quite busy for the brigade.

On Monday 29th December at 1800hrs, we received a request from the Mid Lachlan area to assist with a fast running grass fire just outside of Parkes. 4 of our members attended and worked through the night to assist in keeping the fire contained.

On Tuesday 30th December at 1245hrs, the brigade was paged to a grassfire at Blayney, crews got the upper hand with assistance from aircraft. We were paged again to the same location later in the day but there was no threat or new fire.

The past few days have shown that summer is truly here and fire can happen quite easily and can spread very quickly.

Our Fire Danger Rating sign is needing repairs as it is currently showing the incorrect date and fire danger rating.
