Dalmatians became closely associated with firefighters in the 19th century because of their natural affinity for horses. Fire brigades relied on horse-drawn steam fire engines, Dalmatians ran in front of the teams, barking to alert people and guide the horses swiftly through crowded streets to fire scenes. At the fireground, the dogs stayed with the horses to keep them calm amid the chaos and protected the valuable equipment from theft while firefighters worked. Although motorized fire trucks replaced horses in the early 20th century, Dalmatians remain iconic mascots and symbols of firefighting tradition in many fire stations around the world today.

At Appliance Training, safety is our top priority. We focus on equipping new motor drivers with the essential knowledge, skills, and decision-making abilities for safe and effective road operation.
To produce confident, competent drivers, our team stays at the forefront of best practices through ongoing self-assessment and high-quality professional development.
Today, our instructors completed the Advanced Driver Training course at Sydney Motorsport Park, delivered by expert instructors from Driving Solutions. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to top-tier driver education.
Without regular practice and external feedback, even experienced drivers can develop bad habits. Today’s course offered valuable objective assessment and refinement in key areas like braking, vehicle control, commentary, seating position, and vision.
By participating in advanced defensive driving programs with industry leaders, we sharpen hazard perception, vehicle handling, and instructional clarityβ€”directly improving our demonstration drives and coaching for recruits.
Thank you to Driving Solutions for an outstanding, practical, and highly valuable day of professional development.

This emergency braking scenario is HAZARD AVOIDENCE. Sometimes whilst responding a hazard may appear at any time. The blue witches hats represent a vehicle that has stopped directly in front of the appliance. The Recruits need to perform emergency braking and steer around the hazard. They don't know which way to go. An instructor drops a flag at the last possible moment and they have to steer around the hazard in that direction.
