This National Reconciliation Week, NSW Trustee and Guardian joined communities across Australia to reflect, listen and learn under this year's theme, All In.

Staff across our Parramatta and Newcastle offices came together for special screenings of ‘The Last Daughter’, the powerful story of Aunty Brenda Matthews, a proud Aboriginal woman and member of the Stolen Generations.

We were honoured to hear from Aunty Brenda Matthews and Aunty Cheryl Yaramun-Smith, whose stories, insights and generosity created opportunities for meaningful reflection and conversation.

NSW Trustee and Guardian acknowledges the ongoing strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including Stolen Generations survivors, their descendants and their communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Reconciliation Week events.

Palliative care focuses on comfort, quality of life and support for people living with a life‑limiting illness.

This National Palliative Care Week (10–16 May), we’re encouraging people to start the conversation early and plan ahead. Giving yourself time to understand your options can bring peace of mind and help avoid rushed decisions during a health crisis.

Planning ahead can include thinking about your estate planning needs such as preparing your Will, Powers of Attorney and Appointment of Enduring Guardian documents.

This Palliative Care Week, consider starting a conversation. One discussion today can help shape care that truly reflects what matters most.

We recently hosted Taking Charge of Your Tomorrow community education expos in Ballina and Tweed Heads, supporting Northern Rivers communities with accessible, practical information about planning ahead documents.

Thank you to the local services and our partner organisations who joined us and worked alongside us on the day, including Service NSW, Services Australia, Seniors Rights Service, Carer Gateway (Carers NSW) as well as other financial, health and care services for supporting locals and sharing their expertise with the community.

The strong turnout highlighted the value of locally delivered information, and we’re proud to continue supporting communities across the region.

Estate planning is not just about documents.
It’s about navigating family dynamics, financial pressures and the unexpected.

This article, developed in partnership with The Guardian, explores why the right people to manage your affairs might not always be the most obvious choice.

Planning ahead means taking time to reflect, ask questions and make choices that truly reflect your wishes.
