We saw so many amazing celebrations take place during National Volunteer Week last week, but we want to give a special shoutout to the team from All Stars for Autism !

All Stars for Autism received a National Volunteer Week Grant from us to thank their volunteers. They created personalised volunteer thank you mugs as gifts for their volunteers, and thank you pictures to go with them, made by mentors and young children with autism.

Recognition goes a long way ❤️ Thank you to All Stars for Autism for getting involved in the celebrations!

When it comes to reconciliation, everyone has a role to play.

Today is the first day of National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June), a time to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for 2026 is 'All In', a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

Volunteering WA is proud to support reconciliation in Western Australia. Last year we finished developing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, which you can find on our website here: https://bit.ly/4ul2ElS

Big shoutout to the team at MAN UP for recently being featured on Mix94.5's Pete & Kymba show!

Fresh off being named the 2026 WA Community Organisation of the Year, Man Up President Daniel Law joined Pete and Kymba to chat about the incredible work he and the team are doing to support men’s mental health and wellbeing across WA.

Man Up WA is creating safe spaces for men to open up, support one another, and redefine masculinity for young men and boys across the state. It’s fantastic to see their impact being recognised. Congratulations to the Man Up team!

And that’s a wrap!!

National Volunteer Week has officially come to an end, with some of Western Australia’s longest serving volunteers formally acknowledged at the WA Volunteer Service Awards ceremony.

Today’s Awards Ceremony acknowledged 458 amazing and selfless West Aussies who have volunteered for five or more years.

Thank you to Ron Sao for handing out some of the awards for me!

And a huge, massive congratulations to three incredible individuals recognised for a Lifetime Achievement Award (60 years of volunteering or more).
They are:
Ron Hancock (Health and Disability – nominated by Bethanie Inc)
Mavis Hamilton (Youth – nominated by Girl Guides)
Joseph McLaughlin (Emergency Services - nominated by Geraldton-Greenough State Emergency Service Unit)

Can you believe that collectively, these three amazing volunteers have contributed an astonishing 187 years of service to their communities?!? Now that’s dedication!!!

Thank you to all the volunteers who make WA a more inclusive community.
