🛝 Help Us Design the New Clifton Park Playground! 🌳

Exciting news for Canning Vale families! The Clifton Park play equipment has reached the end of its life and is getting a complete upgrade under the City's Playground Renewal Program.

We want to design a fun, safe, and welcoming space, and we need your family's ideas to help shape the draft concepts.

✨ We’d love your input on:

What playground styles, swings, and slides your kids love most.

Any sensory play elements you’d like to see included.

How your family currently uses the park space.

(Note: This project focuses purely on play equipment and does not include broader park upgrades like toilets, barbecues, benches, or courts).

🗳️ Have Your Say Today!
Click the link below to complete the quick survey.

Once the designers create the draft concepts based on your ideas, you'll have another opportunity to review them and give feedback.

Let’s work together to make Clifton Park a fantastic space for our kids!

Understanding the true depth of ANZAC Day is a profound journey when you come to Australia as a migrant. It is not just a day of remembrance; it is the foundation of the peace and freedom we are so deeply privileged to share.

Serving as a Councillor has given me a new perspective on this occasion. It is an honour to be actively involved in how our City of Canning community comes together to reflect, pay our respects and keep the ANZAC spirit alive.

A standout moment from this morning’s service at the Civic Amphitheatre was the address by Rehan Abeywardana, representing Rossmoyne Senior High School. Rehan is a good friend of my son and watching him deliver such a meaningful and wonderful speech was incredibly moving.

Seeing our local youth step up with such maturity to carry this legacy forward means a great deal.

Thank you to the Canning Districts RSL Sub Branch, City of Canning staff, students from Rossmoyne Senior High School, my fellow councillors and everyone who contributed to a memorable morning.

Lest we forget. 🌺

Calling all Spanish-speaking families in the City of Canning!

I am delighted to share that a wonderful Spanish-speaking Playgroup is holding an Open Day tomorrow in Willetton!

Building inclusive spaces where children can learn, grow, and connect through language and culture is so important for our vibrant community.

Whether you are new to the area or have been here for years, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet other Spanish-speaking parents and let the little ones enjoy a morning of stories, arts, and play.

🗓 When: Tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd April
⏰ Time: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
📍 Where: 6 Kingfisher Loop, Willetton WA 6155
🧸 Activities: Storytime, rhymes, arts & crafts, and playground fun!

Special guest Le Toboggan will also be joining the fun.

Please see the attached flyer for more details, and feel free to tag any friends or neighbours who might be interested.

I hope to see a great turnout from our local Spanish-speaking community!

Global Streets Festival 2026: Today! 🌍✨

Canning is home to such a richly diverse community, and today is all about celebrating the food, traditions, and people that make our City so special.

When: Today, Saturday 18 April
Time: 4:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: Hillview Hub, Bentley (Hillview Terrace)

I’ll be heading down myself—it’s the perfect afternoon to grab a bite from the food trucks, enjoy the live performances across two stages, and let the kids explore the giant bubbles and weaving workshops.

Quick Tips:

🎟️ Free entry and plenty of free activities.

🐕 Dogs on leashes are very welcome!

🚶 Getting there: Parking is limited, so please consider walking, cycling, or using public transport if you can.

Let’s celebrate the connection and energy of our community together.

See you there!

50 SHADES OF GREY ☑️🧠🩶

Grey matters.

Tonight at our City of Canning Agenda Briefing, we wore grey to symbolise the brain’s grey matter and stand in solidarity with our good friend and colleague, Councillor Linda Ross, during a time of deep loss.

As a Council, we came together and made a small donation to Charlies Foundation for Research whose incredible work supports vital medical research across Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital, making a real difference to patient care here in Perth.

Their vision is simple but powerful, helping West Australians live healthier, longer lives. It’s about inspiring generosity, driving innovation, and always putting patients first, including support for Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA).

Most importantly, we showed Linda she’s not alone.

In memory of Mick McConnell RIP
