Hope everyone is safe with that storm lastnight and early this morning. That wind was full on and no doubt some birds and nests may have been displaced. Please contact us if you find any injured or displaced animals. Keep in a warm dark box. Do not attempt to feed or give water. Most animals need warmth before they will even drink or eat. 0410487886 - Felicia

Grafic photos warning
โš ๏ธ!!
This juvenile banded dugite came into care yesterday after a member of public saw it on his patio paving not looking to great. Its highly likely that a cat got hold of it. After a better assessment we noticed several puncture wounds, de-gloving, several haematoma and bruising spots along with missing lifted scales ๐Ÿ˜’This guy would be in so much pain, yet it was alert and scared. PLEASE KEEP CATS INDOORS
I called our dear fellow carer to asses and see see if this one stood a chance of recover. Its will be a long road but if anyone can....its Tessa x

We've been a bit quiet lately but that dosnt mean that we are doing nothing. We are still caring for animals we have in our home and out in the community. There are still 3 bobtails that are being fed and weighed until they reach a suitable weight to be released, 1 pink n grey that has made himself very comfy and part of the family, were actively looking for his owners, and also a for the last 3 months working closely with developers and Rocky Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Catalina with a mob of roos stuck in the area, 7 have been rescued so far ๐Ÿ’•We go out every few days to check on food and water, and even have a live view link on cameras to watch them. Thank you Keith for that!! We are hoping to get the last few out soon.

During the autumn season, our reptilian friends start to settle into brumation. There is considerable confusion between this state and hibernation. Bears, which hibernate through the winter relying on stored fat, exhibit a different physiological response than reptiles, which will slow down and rest during this period. However, reptiles may emerge on warmer days to bask in the sun, drink, or eat. The glucose levels in their bodies regulate their metabolic functions. Hence, warm-blooded mammals are the ones that truly hibernate, and cold-blooded animals are the ones that brumate.
