🌈⭐️ Proud to have voted in favour of Armadale’s new Community Strategy last night, the first to specifically recognise LGBTQIA+ residents.

This was the result of a genuinely thorough process: community consultation, stakeholder engagement, officer review, and councillor input over several months. It passed 8 to 5, and I want to thank everyone in our community who shared their views along the way.

Representing ALL of our residents means ALL of our residents and I’m glad council backed that principle. I take great pride in the fact that my ward (and the whole of our City) is home to people from all walks of life, and good policy should reflect that diversity rather than overlook parts of it.

Have you ever spotted one of our water trucks watering trees on a rainy day and wondered why? You're not alone!

While winter rainfall certainly helps, it doesn't always provide enough water where young trees need it most.

Rain doesn't always soak deeply enough to reach the roots, especially in our sandy soils. That's why newly planted street trees are watered on a programmed schedule during their first three years, helping them establish strong, healthy root systems.

Our watering program also includes a wetting agent and organic bio-stimulant to improve soil health and help the trees thrive.

A little extra care now helps create healthier, greener streets for years to come. 💚

Every submission counts. I read each and every submission in detail every year, and I always have. Even when views differ, it is important that councillors understand the concerns, priorities and experiences of the people affected by our decisions.

Most of the work I do on behalf of residents happens away from social media. I work hard scrutinising budgets, questioning expenditure and advocating for value for money for ratepayers.

For me, community feedback is the most important part of that process, which is why I encourage anyone with a view on the proposed rates to make a submission if possible.

Formal submissions form part of the official record and must be considered as part of Council's decision making process.

While I cannot predetermine the final outcome, I can assure residents that I will continue advocating for responsible spending, challenging costs where appropriate and seeking the best possible value for money for our community.

The City of Armadale acknowledge the Traditional Owners and the Custodians of the land upon which we stand, work and play.

PROUD OF OUR POUND ⭐️

A couple of weeks ago I was really pleased to attend the opening of the upgraded City of Armadale animal management facility.

This is a project I’ve strongly supported and advocated for over a number of years, so it’s great to finally see these important improvements completed for both the animals in the City’s care and our Rangers who work there every day. Anyone who knows me personally knows how passionate I am about animals and their welfare! This project has meant so much me ❤️

The upgrades include improved dog and cat housing, safer handling areas, better ventilation and cooling, new dog runs and a range of other improvements to bring the facility up to modern standards. I was particularly pleased to encourage the separate cat housing area and improved air conditioning, helping create a calmer and more comfortable environment for cats while in the City’s care.

A really positive outcome for animal welfare, staff safety and our community. 🐾
