Went to Sydney Park last Thursday which is popular with dog walkers. The first thing that hit me as I entered was the smell - although plastic bags are available it seems not everyone uses them. Still, the park is has a lot of wildlife in the lagoons and forests which makes it worthwhile to visit.

No more nesting on construction cranes - an Osprey nesting platform was installed in the Georges River at Lime Kiln Bay in June 2025 by George Riverkeeper in partnership with Georges River Council. Ospreys occupied it shortly after. Photos today at Illawong show an osprey on board. The view may better from Oatley Park.

March 18th at 7.00pm

Very soon, NPA members will be able to book in on walks directly (but with the ability of leaders to say yes or no)

That system will be quite different to the current one and NPA SSB is hosting an information evening online, via Zoom, so you can see how it will look like, ask questions and give feedback!

Samantha Newton and Richard Bennett, the people driving the change, will be presenting and explaining what it will look like!
This will be a most informative evening. It is happening from 7.00pm on March 18th. Please come along. There is no need to book. Just click on the following link and, if technology is kind, you will be added to the call.

WINGED CREATURES Exhibition

"Winged Creatures" is an exhibit of photos taken by Rachel Fitzhardinge in a small area in Blakehurst. It features photos of native birds that are associated with mudflats, as well as some native insects in a nearby garden and small park. The exhibition highlights some not well-known animals as well as some very familiar ones. It aims to raise awareness of native species that live amongst us in southern Sydney and promote their conservation. The exhibition will be held in the Dragon's Lair Gallery, 14 Macmahon St, Hurstville, from 22 March to 11 May 2025. The gallery is not open on Mondays. Gallery hours may be found at: https://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Community/Art-and-Culture/Hurstville-Museum-Gallery Entry to the museum and gallery is free.

To book for the exhibition opening on 22 March see: https://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Community/Art-and-Culture/Hurstville-Museum-Gallery/Exhibitions/Upcoming-Exhibitions/Winged-Creatures
