Quorrobolong RFS brigade had a doubly big day yesterday.
First up our larger Category 1 tanker departed for Buladelah with an experienced crew of 4 just after 6am. Their task was to assist with controlling the 4500 hectare fire burning on both sides of the M1 motorway just south of the town.
Shortly before 11am we received a pager call to a structure fire involving a house on Barraba Lane at Quorroblong. With most of our crew away at Buladelah we were able to respond a capable crew of 2 in our smaller Category 7 tanker. The crew arrived first on scene to find a going fire and immediately went to work. Soon after our friends and neighbours from Mulbring RFS brigade arrived with their larger tanker and an experienced crew of 2, closely followed by NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Bellbird and Paxton.
With the combined expertise then on hand the structure was largely saved, but as with all fires, smoke and water damage were significant. More RFS assets, NSW Police and Ausgrid arrived during the process to assist in ending up with the best possible outcome.
A huge thank you to all who assisted.
NSW Fire and Rescue Bellbird put a very good post which in part gave praise to the initial work carried out by the Quorroblong and Mulbring RFS crews to initially suppress the fire.
Here's a link to that post. It's worth reading.

π₯π₯ FIRE CALL - 8/12/25 π₯π₯
At 09:53hrs this morning our Pump, Fire and Rescue NSW 418 Paxton and NSW Rural Fire Service was paged for a House Fire at Quorrobolong. Appliances from Quorrobolong RFS and Mulbring RFS were the first 2 appliances on scene and with their heroic actions they were able to knock the fire inside the premises down fast and prevent it from causing any further damage to the premises. Sadly there was a large amount of smoke damage throughout the house. A huge effort from all RFS and FRNSW crews.
Luckily this premises had an ample amount of working smoke alarms which were working and activated!
Below is a photo of damage that one of the smoke alarms suffered however was still sounding its alarm.
