This week we celebrated SASS Appreciation Week- our broad team that encompasses the farm, learning support and admin are integral in the daily operations of our community. They are often the quiet engines behind the scene that keep everything humming. Some additional photos to wrap up what has been an amazing week. A special mention to our staff- admin support/farm/teaching -who work above and beyond to facilitate these amazing programs for our AgSTEM students and also students in other schools across greater Western Sydney. Well Done Ned. This past week Ned The last 2 days Ned has been at Parkes show competing in the Junior judging competition, gaining lots of experience in judging cattle, grain and vegetables/fruits. Ned has been working this year to expand his judging expertise, particularly in Fruit and Veg and Grains, having already a few years of experiences in the Cattle program. Ned made it through to the oral section in fruit and vegetable judging and ended up walking away with an encouragement award placing him 6th.
Since returning Ned has been supporting the delivery of programs in our Ag Field Days. His passion for agriculture always at the forefront.

We are holding our small schools Primary School Ag Field day today. The morning programs have been well received as students engaged with our drones, cattle and bees. Our AgSTEM Ambassadors from Years 8-11 have also been doing a fabulous job leading workshops. They also enjoyed learning how our robotic dogs- Byte and Terra - can support data collection at the Centre.

A great day to be out planting crops. 9A spent the day getting their hands dirty planting capsicum in their agronomy unit. The plants are part of a trial within our agronomy unit and were kindly donated by Western Sydney University - Science/Western Sydney U - Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment. We thank them for supporting our agronomy trials.

This week is Wear it Purple Week at the Centre. Our community will connect with this important message of inclusivity and belonging across two days during the week. Wednesday saw our senior school and middle years students engage in a series of events organised by our SRC and Senior Prefects. From a presentation led by one of our senior prefects, to m***i, bracelet making, face painting and some sweet treats our community came together to demonstrate our values of respect, kindness and belonging. On Friday our junior school (Years 7/8) and seniors will have the opportunity to participate.

We congratulate our senior prefect team and also our SRC for their initiative and organisation of this event. As we instil in in our daily practice, and celebrate through our TRELLIS - at the Centre we learn and function as a community where belonging is important. To thrive collectively and individually we respect each other, we demonstrate kindness, and support each other in our academic and personal growth. We acknowledge that each of us connect with many community circles and that our circle of community as a school is strongest when we all belong and thrive.

We always end day one of our Ag Field Day with a Dharug Cultural workshop under the stars. This year Brielle led our young people in a weaving workshop. It was a lovely way to end our night, listening to Brielle explain why this is such an important component of community and for our young people to engage their minds, hands and hearts in such a productive and connected manner.

As is tradition Yr7 Ag Field Day always involves a series of workshops with our friends at Hawkesbury Headquarters Rural Fire Brigade. The fabulous team from HHRFS spent the evening working with our young people discussing fire preparedness, fire behaviour, fire safety and also the role of volunteers in our communities. These workshops are always well received by our students and are important in raising awareness across our community more broadly linked to fire awareness and preparedness, whether we live in suburban areas like Elara or rural areas like Grose View. It was also a chance for our young people to connect with volunteer fire fighters-many of whom started their volunteering careers when they were 13/14 years of age. These youth programs, and the RFs more broadly, provide a wonderful connection to community.
The Centre is excited that when we move into our new school next year we will be finally able to offer the youth program in our school. Something we have been keen to do for years.
