Our Grade 1s and 2s have been studying Fairytales as their Literacy Unit and have been using this inspiration in their work on Creativity and Design as well!

This week they planned, designed and created a fairytale character in the most delicious way possible. Can you guess our characters?? 🤤

Our Grade 5/6s had a fantastic day yesterday in the city. Some really valuable learning at the Immigration Museum as well as walking through the city and buying lunch at Melbourne Central. Both experiences guaranteed real life learning, negotiating, investigating and enjoying times with friends. Well done team!

This week we started our Taiko drumming unit in Performing Arts, in preparation for our Water Rhythms incursions.

When learning Taiko, performers must first learn to say and feel the rhythms in their bodies. We then practiced playing on our home-made “okedo-daiko” taiko drums, made from yoga balls and pool noodles, and “shime-daiko” taiko drums, made from cushions.

If any families have old or unwanted yoga balls we are still looking for donations. Please send them to the music room, or leave than at Mrs Hopkins office. Thank you!

A huge thank you to both Mr Shaun McClare and Mrs Lauren Hopkins for leading our school with such kindness, resilience and respect for all - we will never know all the things they have done, and continue to do, for Kalinda Primary School! Thank you!
