📚 Help Shape the Future of Maranoa Libraries!

Maranoa Regional Council is developing a 10-year strategy for our libraries, and we want to hear from you! Your ideas and feedback are vital in shaping the future of library services across our region.

Consultants will be visiting in May to chat with residents and stakeholders about:
✨ What you value most about your library
✨ How libraries can better meet community needs
✨ Ideas for how library services can grow and evolve

Can’t attend in person? Share your thoughts through our short, anonymous survey, open until 31 May 2026.

Cr Meryl Brumpton, Portfolio for Arts and Culture, encourages everyone to get involved:

“Our libraries are an important meeting place for our community. They serve as spaces where individuals or groups can come to learn, engage, and access resources.

“We encourage the community to engage in this consultation process in order to have their say on shaping the future of our libraries.”

Planning a Fundraiser? Here's What You Need to Know

Are you a community group organising a fundraiser? Let us help you be organised (and safe) by reminding you of what you need have checked off!

Make sure your event is safe, well-organised, and meets local requirements by following these steps:
• Street Stall Permit: If your fundraiser involves a street stall in public spaces, you’ll need to apply for a permit. The good news? It’s FREE for community groups! Just remember to include a copy of your $20 million public liability insurance with your application.
• Food Activities: Planning a sausage sizzle, cake stall, or serving food? You’ll also need a Non-Profit Food Notification Certificate to comply with food safety regulations.

These permits help avoid scheduling conflicts with other events and ensure your fundraiser runs smoothly.

For more information on how to apply for a permit or to check the requirements for the different types of stalls visit Council’s website: maranoa.co/PermitsandLicenses or contact Council’s Environmental Health team on 1300 007 662.

Hazard reduction burn: Muckadilla

Queensland Fire Department will be undertaking a planned hazard reduction burn this Sunday, 17 May 2026 in Muckadilla.

The fire mitigation measure will allow an excess fuel load to be burnt off south of the Muckadilla township.

It is recommended that windows and doors are kept closed during this time and those who may suffer from a respiratory condition should keep their medication close by.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads with motorists urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

Maranoa Regional Council will continue to monitor the site post burn with residual smoke expected in the days after.

Council appreciates residents’ cooperation during this time while works to better our region take place.
