Smoke Alarm Laws Are Coming

Queensland homeowners – just sharing a quick reminder about the 2027 smoke alarm laws.
By 1 January 2027, homes in Queensland must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed. That means if one alarm activates, they all sound.
They also need to be installed:
• Inside every bedroom
• In hallways connecting bedrooms
• On every level of the home
A lot of houses still have the older single alarms, so it’s worth checking what’s currently installed.
