In early December 2025, we experienced one of the most dangerous bushfires in the Bogee/Mt. Marsden area for many years. We lost four homes and various outbuildings in this incident.
As part of the recovery, our brigade received a request from one of the residents who had lost a home for assistance in the removal of burnt trees and shrubs that had been bulldozed to clear an area for the rebuilding of their new home. On Saturday, 9/5/2026.
We had a successful day working with the residents, and I am sure they are looking forward to the time when construction on their new home will commence.

It is with great sadness I wish to advise the passing of George William McDonald, formerly of Glen Alice Rd., Rysltone and Life Member of the NSW Rural Fire Service Bogee Brigade. I spent many great times with George and Anne before her passing earlier on. George spent many hours with me on the history of his involvement with the Bogee area, and he had many interesting stories to tell. George was awarded life membership with the Bogee Brigade due to his work with us over many years. RIP my friend.

Happy Easter everyone, hope it is safe and well for you.

Happy Easter everyone, hope it is safe and well for you.

πŸ”₯ Wanting to light a fire this weekend?

Make sure you follow the rules for wherever you are this weekend ⬇️

For those in the Mid-Western Regional Council area:

πŸ”₯ The Bush Fire Danger Period is still in place meaning Fire Permits are still required for hazard reduction (including bonfires) and agricultural burns.

πŸ”₯Fire Permits are not required for fires for the purpose of cooking food, provided that:
βœ… the fire is in a permanently constructed fireplace;
βœ… at a site surrounded by ground that is cleared of all combustible materials for a distance of at least two metres all around;
βœ… the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.

For much of our district, it is still very dry and it is not taking much for grass fires to take hold and risk threatening property. Please follow the rules so our volunteers can enjoy their weekend at home with their family and friends.

More information can be found here:

If you’re travelling this weekend, be safe on our roads.

🐰🐣 Happy Easter to you and your families from the NSW RFS Cudgegong District πŸš’

An interesting story of some of the Coulson Aviation / RFS crews that staff our aerial aircraft, and some of the types of operations they are capable of.

4/2/2026. UPDATE : Bush Fire Glen Alice Rd & Home Hills Road Mt. Marsden. This fire is now classed as contained, patrols are planned for the ensuing days to check on the incident.
Cause of fire : Lightning strike on a large Iron Bark tree about two days ago from an electrical storm.
Reported by a local resident and information from an NP&WS helicopter. ( The attached photo is from that aircraft).
Units from Bogee, Glen Alice and Rylstone RFS attended this call, and greatly appreciated assistance from two private fire units provided by local farmers.
The photo indicates the area near the Glen Alice Rd., & Home Hills Rd, intersection.
This incident is a classic example as to why we as RFS ask residents to pay close attention to the local area for several days after lightning strikes.
