What starts with one artwork can become something much bigger. 🎨

Over the years, our Art Show has continued to grow, bringing together an incredible mix of artists, styles and stories.

And you don’t need to be an experienced artist to be part of it.

We welcome entries from artists living with disability across all experience and skill levels — whether you’ve been creating for years or you’re sharing your work for the very first time.

Three prizes will be awarded to three artists from the show, with the winners announced at the Opening Night on October 1st at Cube 37, Frankston.

A much-loved tradition finds a new chapter.

For years, the Art Show has been a highlight of the SASI community, a celebration of creativity, expression, and the remarkable talent of artists living with disability. The colour, the heart, the stories behind every piece: that beautiful history belongs to the artists and the community who built it.

As SASI comes together with the Independence Australia Group as one united organisation, we're proud to present the Art Show under the IAG banner for the first time. It may have a new look but behind it are the same people and the same support.

Entries are officially open. We look forward to reconnecting with returning artists and to welcome new ones entering for the first time. If you're an artist living with disability, this is your moment to share your work with the wider community.

Pizza + games = a pretty solid Friday afternoon 🍕🎲

SASI’s Games & Pizza afternoons are coming up monthly from September, with a different mix of games each time — from Bingo and cards to Jenga, Guess Who, trivia, lawn games and more.

Movies are better from a beanbag 🍿🎬

SASI’s Beanbag Cinema Sessions are the perfect way to spend a Monday afternoon — with a new movie every second week, plenty of comfy seating, snacks, dinner and good company.

There’s a lot more happening in the SASI kitchen than simply following a recipe.

It’s a place to build confidence, learn practical skills, explore interests and spend time doing something genuinely enjoyable alongside others.

Clients and support workers plan, prepare and create together — and some of that cooking also supports the wider community, with meals prepared for Vinnies Kitchen in Rosebud.

Sometimes assumptions are disguised as kindness.

We may step in quickly, make a choice on someone’s behalf or avoid offering an opportunity because we’re trying to protect them from difficulty or disappointment.

But real support begins by including the person in the decision.

It means asking what they want, listening to their answer and providing the support they need to participate—not deciding the outcome before they’ve had the chance to try.

A person might need support to do something.

That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be given the opportunity.
