We are pleased to advise that Round 1 Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the 2027 STEM Pathway of Excellence opens on Monday 27 April for students in Years 3, 4 and 5 seeking a place in this selective entry program.
Kimberley Park State School is proud to be a leading STEM primary school in the South East Region, offering a specialised STEM Pathway of Excellence for students with a strong interest and aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
This selective entry program is open to students in Years 4, 5 and 6 and provides accelerated learning opportunities across Robotics, Coding, Science, Engineering and Mathematics through integrated, real-world learning experiences. Learning is driven by inquiry and is designed to develop critical thinking, creativity and innovation, while challenging students to investigate and solve authentic, complex problems.
Through this program, students build the skills, mindsets and capabilities required for future pathways in a rapidly changing world. Students also engage in learning experiences with external educational and industry partners, including The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, and the Queensland Museum.
Who should apply?
The program is suited to current or prospective students in Years 3, 4 and 5 who:
• Demonstrate strong academic achievement
• Show strong interest and aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
• Thrive in collaborative and challenging learning environments
• Enjoy investigating ideas and developing solutions to real-world and global issues
Selection procedure
Places in the STEM Pathway of Excellence are limited. Students are selected based on:
• Academic achievement
• Entry test results
• Student engagement at school
• Student response within the application
• Participation and interest in STEM activities within and beyond the school community

Term 2 Round
• Opens: Monday 27 April (Term 2, Week 2)
• Closes: Friday 29 May (Term 2, Week 6)
Term 4 Round
• Opens: Tuesday 6 October (Term 4, Week 1)
• Closes: Friday 30 October (Term 4, Week 4)
Please note that applications submitted after the closing dates may not be accepted.
Program costs
A fee of $140.00 is payable upon acceptance into the program. This covers STEM and Robotics resources, learning experiences, and participation in competitions.

If your child is in the program, you do not need to reapply.
Successful applicants will be notified by mail in Term 4. Once you have applied you do not need to submit another application for entry.
