Here are the Caroline Chisholm Society (CCS) we believe in the empowerment of women and families; it’s one of our values. We do this by providing support to mothers, babies, toddlers and the family that surrounds them. Founded in the 1960s by Dr Philomene Joshua and a group of volunteers in response to the real needs of women and children in communities across Melbourne and Goulburn Valley. Inspir

ed by the life and work of Caroline Chisholm, who dedicated her life in providing practical assistance with accommodation, work and protection – as well as politically agitating on behalf of women and their children. The Society works with women to keep families together and prevent the involvement of child protection services in the lives of women and their children. In achieving this, the organization is clearly focused on supporting women with their pregnancy and early parenting to create safe and nurturing environments for infants and young children. We work with the whole family to support secure attachment, optimize child outcomes through parenting interventions, prevent and alleviate the impacts of poverty, homelessness, family violence and issues with mental health have on parent and child well being. Our Vision

Safe, healthy and secure homes, families and communities where mothers, babies and children are thriving. Our Mission

We exist to provide stability, security and dignity for mothers and their families. Our Values

We will develop services that are underpinned by the principles of :

- Respect for Life
- Compassion and caring
- Social Justice
- Empowerment
- Recognition of diversity
- Accountable Best Practice

Wendy Hunt Wendy is an extraordinary volunteer that the Shepparton, Goulburn Valley community should be proud of.

She has dedicated over 43 years of volunteering to the community to support families who are vulnerable and in need of support.

Wendy’s compassion, empathy and kindness is evident in how she is proactive to pass on her knowledge to new volunteers and staff at the Caroline Chisholm Society - GV Pregnancy Support Service.

We are very fortunate and grateful to have Wendy as our longest serving volunteer and retired Board Member. Wendy's work is a testament to the true spirit of volunteering, it is both selfless and compassionate.

Thank you Wendy 💜

One powerful donation. Triple the impact.

We’re excited to launch our Triple the Impact Appeal! A dedicated campaign supporting families across our community.
Funds raised will go directly towards three critical areas of our work:
Material Aid
Perinata Mental Health
Housing

On average, Australian families spend between $8,000–$13,000 on baby items in the first year.
For many, this simply isn’t possible.

Our Material Aid program in Shepparton provides families with access to essential everyday items during times of financial hardship and instability, easing pressure on already stretched budgets, particularly in the early years when costs are high and income may be reduced.

Without access to basic necessities, stress can quickly build, impacting not only parents, but a child’s comfort, wellbeing and development.

This is one of the three critical areas supported through our Triple the Impact Appeal.

A heartfelt thank you to Soroptimist International Victoria

We are beyond grateful for their incredible grant of $20,000, which will keep our Shepparton Office open and supporting the community.

Our GV Pregnancy Support service was facing closure in 2024, but thanks to the generosity of local community members and generous funders like Soroptimist International Victoria, we can continue providing vital support for longer.

This means more material aid for families, continued connection, and a welcoming space for anyone who needs us.
