🏟️ A growing regional city needs sporting facilities that can keep pace.

For more than 50 years, Shepparton Sports Stadium has served our community. But built for a much smaller population, the four-court venue is now at capacity, with clubs, schools and community groups competing for court availability.

This means fewer opportunities to train, compete, develop local talent and grow participation. The stadium’s age and limitations also affect accessibility and restrict Greater Shepparton’s ability to host the major events that modern multi-court venues can attract.

A redeveloped Shepparton Sports & Events Centre would help:
🏀 Create more opportunities for children, young people and community sporting clubs
👩‍🦰 Expand participation opportunities for women and girls
♿ Improve accessibility and inclusion for people with disability
🏆 Strengthen pathways from grassroots participation to elite competition
🏨 Attract major events and support local accommodation, hospitality, retail and tourism businesses

Council is seeking a $12 million investment from the Victorian Government towards the $37 million redevelopment.

This is more than an investment in a stadium. It is an investment in healthier communities, greater opportunity, local jobs and a lasting sporting legacy for regional Victoria.

Daisy has found her people 💙🐾😸

Known as Nutmeg during her stay at our Shepparton Animal Shelter, this little kitten now has a new name, a loving home and two very smitten humans.

Her favourite activities? Investigating anything that makes a funny noise, birdwatching from safely indoors and ambushing feet under the dining table. Clearly, dinner needed more entertainment!

Her new family couldn’t be happier.

“She’s the cutest little bundle of joy, but also so so cheeky,” says Hayley. “She’s the perfect little addition to our family.”

Thank you, Hayley, for sharing Daisy’s happy ending, and to our shelter team for helping pets and people find each other.

🌉 Council welcomes $25 million election commitment towards a second river crossing.

Council has welcomed the Coalition’s $25 million election commitment to support planning and development of a second Goulburn River crossing if elected.

A major priority within Council’s 2026 Victorian State Election advocacy program, the proposed crossing would strengthen connections between Shepparton and Mooroopna, support freight movement and help keep our community connected during emergencies.

The 2022 floods showed why another crossing matters. When the causeway closed, people’s access to work, school, healthcare and essential services was significantly disrupted.

The commitment would help progress detailed planning, design and an updated business case to attract future investment. Substantial additional funding would still be needed to build the crossing.

Council will continue advocating for this vital project and welcomes commitments from all political parties and candidates that support our community’s priorities.

🚌 Council welcomes bus network review and calls for better connections across Greater Shepparton.

The Victorian Government has announced that the Shepparton and Mooroopna bus network will be reviewed as part of its broader bus network review program. We thank the Victorian Government and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes for listening to our community and committing to this important review.

Council is calling for the review to consider connections across the whole municipality. People in our smaller towns also need reliable services linking them to work, education, healthcare, essential services and each other.

A key Council advocacy priority, the review follows sustained advocacy by Council, local businesses and community members. The network has remained largely unchanged for more than 15 years while our community has continued to grow.

The Victorian Government is expected to consult with the community in early 2027 as part of the review, giving residents an opportunity to share how they use local buses and how the network could better meet their needs.

The review is a welcome first step. Council will continue advocating for the funding needed to implement practical improvements to routes, service frequency and timetables.

🌳 Keeping our trees clear of powerlines helps keep our community safe.

From tomorrow, Monday 12 October 2026, Council will begin pruning trees near powerlines in parts of Shepparton, Mooroopna and Tatura.

Our street trees bring shade and character to our neighbourhoods. Keeping their branches clear of powerlines helps reduce the risk of electrical hazards and fires, and helps keep your electricity supply reliable.

These works are part of Council’s Electric Line Clearance Management Plan and are required under Victoria’s Electricity Safety (Electric Line Clearance) Regulations 2026.

🚗 There may be temporary traffic disruptions near the works. Please slow down, follow any signs or directions from traffic controllers, and give crews space to work safely.
