Suivness Embodied Health Emotional regulation and resilience through yoga & somatic therapy and cognitive science I do enjoy strong energising practices in the morning though!

My name is Sue, I'm Irish and living in Australia since January 2017 (Perth since June 2019). I have practiced yoga and meditation for the past 20 years and qualified as a teacher in 2018 (500hr Diploma in Yoga Teacher Training). Since then I have completed lots of specialised yoga training (seniors and chair yoga training, kids yoga training, trauma sensitive yoga training and mental/adrenal exhaustion yoga specialist training). Yoga and meditation help me to manage anxiety, reduce stress and to calm my often too busy head. I like to practice slow flow and Hatha yoga - suitable for beginners and for people who prefer a slower, more inward breath-focused practice. My aim in my own practice and when I'm teaching is to finish each class or practice feeling more grounded, peaceful and content than before. Some of the lovely humans who have attended classes with me have left some reviews on this page to describe what my classes are like. Also related to my practice is that I have worked as a university researcher/lecturer for 10+ years with a research focus on factors that influence success in learning (emotional regulation, self-belief, mindset, positive mental health) and have published a lot of articles in this. I feel very strongly that Yoga is for everybody. Get in touch and give it a go

Are you a busy mum, free this Saturday and in need of a little time for yourself?

The lovely Michelle from our Wednesday night yoga class is running a half-day event, and there are still a few spots available.

Although I haven’t attended one of Michelle’s events myself, I can certainly vouch for how kind, big-hearted and capable she is.

So, if you fancy a little time out for yourself while supporting a wonderful local mum in business, have a look at what she has planned. 💕

A half day retreat for Mums to pause, breathe and reconnect with yourself so you can be a calmer, more connected Mum for your family xx

Go on - if you’re Irish tell me would you touch a fairy fort? I know the answer 😂

Term 4 starts this week, and I have 3 spaces available in my Wednesday evening class in Padbury!

If you've been thinking about giving yoga a go, this is a lovely opportunity to come along and see if my classes are for you.

These aren't your standard yoga classes. My approach is more therapeutic and somatic, bringing together yoga, neuroscience and an understanding of how the body and nervous system respond to stress.

We use gentle movement, breathwork and embodied awareness practices to help you reconnect with your body, build strength and flexibility, release tension and develop practical ways to manage stress and feel more grounded in everyday life.

And one of my favourite parts of the class is the extended relaxation at the end, giving you plenty of time to settle, let go of tension and experience a deep sense of relaxation. ❤️

You don't need any previous yoga experience. You can book a single class to try it out, and if you enjoy it, you can still take advantage of the discounted term rate.

My Monday classes are already full, but there are still 3 spaces available on Wednesdays.

📍 Padbury | Wednesdays | 6–7:15pm

I'd love to welcome a few new faces to the mat for our final term of the year.

I used to be very good at pushing through. Keep going. Get things done. Expect more of myself. And at times I’m still like that too, but the difference is that now I’m much more likely to notice when I’m doing it.

Over the years, I’ve learned that constantly pushing through and overriding what we need doesn’t actually help us as much as we think it does.

Sometimes we need to slow down, listen to what our body is telling us and give ourselves a little space and kindness.

But I also know there are times when you simply can’t slow down. There’s too much on your plate and life needs you to keep going. I’ve been there too.

And I think this is where self-compassion really matters.

It doesn’t have to mean stopping. It might be a few quiet breaths. A small pause. Letting something be good enough. Acknowledging this is hard rather than pushing that feeling away.

Self-compassion is something I’ve had to learn and practise over the years. For me, a big part of it has been learning to notice those old patterns when they show up.

Because sometimes we can’t take our foot off the pedal just yet. But we can learn not to leave ourselves behind while we keep going.

I love this. A beautiful reminder to slow down enough to listen to ourselves.

There is so much wisdom in John O’Donohue’s words. ❤️

When you take the time to draw on your listening-imagination, you will begin to hear this gentle voice at the heart of your life. It is deeper and surer than all the other voices of disappointment, unease, self-criticism and bleakness. All holiness is about learning to hear the voice of your own soul. It is always there and the more deeply you learn to listen, the greater surprises and discoveries that will unfold. To enter into the gentleness of your own soul changes the tone and quality of your life. Your life is no longer consumed by hunger for the next event, experience or achievement. You learn to come down from the treadmill and walk on the earth. You gain a new respect for yourself and others and you learn to see how wonderfully precious this one life is. You begin to see through the enchanting veils of illusion that you had taken for reality. You no longer squander yourself on things and situations that deplete your essence. You know now that your true source is not outside you. Your soul is your true source and a new energy and passion awakens in you.

We were up at 4:45am to watch this and honestly I couldn’t be more impressed with this woman.

When Katie Taylor first started boxing, girls weren’t even allowed to fight, so she tucked her hair up, put on her headguard and got into the ring as a boy.

She said that as young as six she remembers dreaming of winning Olympic gold, at a time when women’s boxing wasn’t even an Olympic sport !!Years later, after helping pave the way for women’s boxing to be included, she stood on the Olympic podium with a gold medal around her neck.

And now, to watch her walk into Croke Park in front of more than 80,000 people for her final fight is just incredible.

I love what she has done for women and girls, and even more so, the way she has done it, with humility, faith, passion and quiet determination.

When asked the best advice she’d ever been given, she said there is no secret to success, but there is a path: work hard and stay committed. She certainly has. An absolute inspiration.

After 30 years in the ring, I can’t imagine a more fitting way to end. So very well deserved.

What an incredible woman. What a legend. ☘️🇮🇪
