Ever dreamt of standing on the start line for Australia at a Paralympic Games?

The VIS Para Sport Unit, is looking for pilots and guides to support elite vision-impaired athletes on the road to LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

Pilots are a key part of an athlete's performance team, training and competing together at the state, national and international level.

No experience needed, but we are looking for individuals who are confident, capable, and preferably with a high level of fitness. The VIS Para Sport Unit provides the training and support to get you race-ready.

Ever wanted to represent Australia at the Paralympics?

September 21-October 1 the VIS Para Sport Unit is kicking off its spring Talent Search Program with a chance to try Para sports from table tennis to track cycling, archery to athletics, in welcoming, supported environments.

Whether you're new to Para sport, curious about a Para pathway, or just looking for an exciting new challenge, there's a session for you.

The VIS welcomed Steve Dimopoulos, Minister for Sport and Major Events and Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, to Lakeside Stadium this week. The Minister visited the VIS high performance environment, meeting athletes and staff working across the Institute's program of more than 400 VIS-supported athletes across approximately 45 Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games sports. The VIS is grateful for the support of the Victorian Government that allows us to support Victoria's Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games athletes to thrive and succeed on the world stage.

Lakeside Stadium has a new space, and it belongs to everyone.

The VIS has opened a permanent Yarning Circle on Bunurong Country, designed in collaboration with Petrichor Collaborative and the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation .

The first of its kind at a high performance sporting institute in Australia.

"This circle gives our athletes, staff and community a place to sit together as equals, to listen and to share and have a yarn," said Jamie McPherson, Connection to Country Officer at the VIS.

It is a place for athletes preparing for the world stage, and a place for the local community, schools and sporting clubs around Albert Park. Everyone is welcome.

Last week, the VIS gathered for our second ever National Reconciliation Week Yarning Circle, and it was something special

We were joined by new and familiar faces, including founder of TriMob and proud Noongar & Martujarra man Nat Heath, and legendary Kuku Yalanji & Birri Gubba woman Catherine Freeman AC.

Together we sat in openness, honesty, and genuine connection. Discussing freely, and exploring what reconciliation truly means to each other, and how this year's theme 'All In' resonates with the unique roles we each play in our communities.

In the Yarning Circle everyone has a voice, and everyone listens with intent, not to respond, but to truly hear.

Two years in, and these conversations are only growing richer. We can't wait for next year.
