It is with deep sadness to pass on the news of the passing of Di Pennach after a short illness. We fondly remember Di as one of the Organisers of the 40th Anniversary of the Adavale Air Disaster. She will be sadly missed, certainly by her close knit family, and by all her friends and those having had the fortune of knowing her. To her family, on behalf of all the members of The Sons of Adavale let me say that, as the days continue to pass, may you find comfort and support in the people that surround you and the wonderful memories you carry in your heart.
Always in our hearts, never forgotten.

Today our hearts are going out to the wonderful people of Adavale who are going through a total nightmare with flooding not seen for an eternity. This is serious, the flood level appears to have exceeded the disastrous flood of 1963 in which the town was almost wiped off the map. I am told that swift watercraft are being deployed, and the 27 residents are to be flown out of the disaster zone. I hope everyone is safe.
Our thoughts and best wishes are going out to them and the people in surrounding areas who are also affected. Hopefully they are receiving the same thoughtfulness and kindness they are famous for extending to others and are now in need for some of the same.
Good luck to them all, stay safe and be strong. From experience, you are not strangers to adversity and will face this disaster with courage too.

On my recent pilgrimage to Adavale, visiting our boys' memorial, I felt the need to leave a part of me (in way of a Rosemary bush) behind for posterity, important to me, taking a part of this site with me. Realising I may not have another opportunity to visit again, I decided to collect foliage, bark and soil from the surrounds and on my return home assemble it all as my piece of Adavale to enjoy every day.
Mission accomplished . It has taken pride of place in my home and can now enjoy this memory every day, in turn feeling I am there again and keeping the memory alive.

Somewhat delayed.
The day (28th August 1983) you (and your buddies) being taken from us in such a cruel way, was one of the 3 most traumatic events of all times and our (and countless other) lives changed forever. . Now, 41 years later, you have been reunited with your Dad and brother. Whilst feeling like an empty shell, going through the motion of living, life must go on regardless and you will always be loved and present in our hearts forever, never forgotten. Heartfelt thanks to the Adavale Community and Quilpie Shire Council for all the generous support and assistance given in the development and preservation of the Memorial at the Air Crash Site and the Plaque at the Community Hall. Adding the 12 Rocks (for the12 Men who perished) and Rosemary bushes were a most touching gesture and will be treasured by the families of the "Forever Sons of Adavale". 💞Forever grateful 💝 We hope to return again one day. ☺️
