🏛️ PARLIAMENT HOUSE LEARNING EXPERIENCE 🏛️
Yesterday, our Year 6 students had an exciting opportunity to visit Parliament House as part of their current unit of learning! During the excursion, students explored how Australia’s government works, deepening their understanding of democracy, leadership, and decision-making.
This real-world experience brought their classroom learning to life, allowing students to see firsthand where important decisions are made and to ask thoughtful questions about civic responsibility. We are so proud of the way our Year 6 students represented our school with curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Experiences like these help inspire informed, active citizens of the future—well done, Year 6! 👏

Year 4–6 students can wear sports uniform and runners on Monday 22nd & Tuesday 23rd June for their Athletics Carnivals.

♟️ BRIGHTWATER CHESS ♟️
Brightwater Chess students had an incredible time competing in the Sunshine Coast Interschool Chess Tournament this week, alongside 380 students from across the region!
Every student achieved at least two game wins, an amazing effort 👏 while also having plenty of fun and learning lots along the way.
A special mention goes to Lucy, Oliver, and Ellie for earning Merit Awards 🌟 and to Shlok for an outstanding achievement, placing 3rd 🥉.
We are so proud of all our players and their fantastic sportsmanship and determination!

🏃‍♀️ PREP ATHLETICS IN ACTION 🏃‍♂️

Our Prep students have been busy building their skills and confidence as they practise long jump with Mrs Pettifer in the lead-up to our Athletics Carnival on Thursday, 25 June.

It’s fantastic to see their enthusiasm and determination as they challenge themselves and celebrate each other’s efforts!

➗➕ MATHS MASTERY IN YEAR 5 ➕➗

This term, our Year 5 students have been strengthening their understanding of multiplication and division, developing confidence with number facts and applying these skills to larger numbers.

Learning came to life during a recent warm-up activity, where students enjoyed a hands-on introduction to the game Yahtzee. Through play, they practised strategic thinking, mental maths, and quick recall of number facts — all while having plenty of fun with their classmates! 🎲

It’s wonderful to see our students building strong mathematical foundations through engaging and interactive learning experiences. Well done, Year 5! 👏

🏃‍♂️ BUILDING ENDURANCE & SPORTSMANSHIP 🏃‍♀️
In the lead up to our upcoming Year 4–6 Athletics Carnival, students have been developing their stamina, pacing, and resilience during the 800m races held on 9 June.

We look forward to seeing these skills continue to shine at the Year 4–6 Athletics Carnival, with events taking place:
📅 Monday 22 June (Half day: 11:30am – 2:45pm)
📅 Tuesday 23 June (Full day)

These events provided a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their training, challenge themselves, and demonstrate perseverance on the track.
It was wonderful to see such determination and encouragement between peers, highlighting not only physical skills but also teamwork and positive sportsmanship—key learning outcomes in our Health and Physical Education program.

Well done to all students for their effort and enthusiasm—we can’t wait for carnival day! 🎉
