Deployment | Tamworth

NSW RFS crews from Cumberland d Macarthur are currently deployed to both Victoria and Tamworth.

Specialist Remote Area Firefightwrs deployed to Victoria last week, these crews will return tomorrow and replacement crews have already been dispatched.

Earlier today, crews deployed to Tamworth to assist local crews over the next few days. 5 light trucks from Cumberland Macarthur were sent as part of a 20 truck contingent to Tamworth.

We are expecting more requests for assistance over coming days as the NSW RFS still have 3 bushfire declarations in place for Chiffley, Tamworth and Singleton areas and are providing support to Victoria.

Truck Fire | M7 Motorway

At about 4:30pm, emergency services were dispatched to a truck fire on the M7 at Cecil Hills.

RFS, Fire & Rescue, Police and M7 crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and direct traffic around the scene on the motorway at Elizabeth Drive Southbound.

Fire had spread to nearby scrub and bush which also had to be extinguished. Fire & Rescue specialist crews were also called to transfer the diesel out of the truck so that the truck could be safely removed.

Traffic was severely affected southbound as recovery teams worked to clear the burnt wreckage of the truck.

New NSW RFS Pumper | Middleton Brigade

Christmas came early for the members of the Middleton Brigade located at West Hoxton.

The brigade has taken delivery of its new Cat 10 Urban Pumper, just in time for Christmas.

This vehicle will enhance the brigades capabilities to better serve the surrounding communities.

We are experiencing an increase in structural fires within the surrounding areas, 2 in the last 24 hours at Austral and Cobbitty.

The new pumper will be sent to many incidents including Structure Fires, Vehicle Fires, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Spillages, Explosion Incidents and Fires where Property is under threat.

This new Pumper is one of seven NSW RFS pumpers for the Cumberland Macarthur district.

Middleton brigade are currently training on the new vehicle and equipment, equipping the vehicle with hose and supplies.

The new Pumper will be online and serving the community in the new year.

Shed Fire | Cobbitty

Shortly before 10pm last night (29th), emergency services were called to a shed explosion at Cut Hill Road at Cobbitty.

Multiple crews from NSW RFS and Fire Rescue NSW were dispatched to the property where they located a large shed that was well alight.

Crews were faced with exploding LPG cylinders and flames above the roof of the shed.

Fast work by Fire Rescue and RFS had the fire under control quickly. Due to the limited water supply, 3 bulk water trucks were brought in and crews used water from a dam on the property.

No one was seriously injured and all occupants are accounted for.

Vehicle into Building | Mount Hunter

This-morning, Narellan Brigade were called to assist Southern Highlands at Mount Hunter.

On scene, crews found a ute and trailer had driven into the community hall at Mount Hunter.

The hall had collapsed over the top of the Ute.
The occupant had been able to exit the vehicle and was not injured.

Extensive damage was sustained to the hall.

House Fire | Austral

Fire crews were called to a house fire in Austral early this morning. On arrival, crews were faced with a 2 story house alight.

Multiple crews from NSW RFS and Fire Rescue NSW were required to control the blaze.

Thankfully, all occupants escaped and were accounted for. The cause of the fire is still being determend.

Bushfire | Simmos Beach, Macquarie Fields

Yesterday afternoon, NSWRFS brigades were called to reports of a bush fire in Simmos Beach at Macquarie Fields.

Upon arrival crews were faced with a progressing bushfire and went to work with 50 other firefighters. After multiple hours crews brought the fire under control and contained it to just under 2 hectares.

This morning Georges River members were back out this morning patrolling and cleaning up any hotspots to ensure no further ignitions with unfavourable weather later this week.

As we head into the hottest part of summer and conditions drying out, please remain vigilant and safe, report any unattended fire to triple zero.

Car Fire | Leppington

Firefighters were called to a vehicle fire at Leppington this afternoon. The car had caught alight in the McDonalds drive thru on Raby Road.

On arrival, crews found the vehicle alight at window 1 next to the electrical distribution board.

Crews from NSWRFS and FRNSW worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and prevent its spread to the store.

Thankfully, no one was injured and the store escaped any serious damage.

The vehicle is not an EV.

A Total Fire Ban is now in place for the Greater Sydney Region, Illawarra/Shoalhaven, North Western and Upper Central West Plains areas. Hot and windy conditions are expected throughout the day with High fire danger across most of NSW.

It's important you are ready to act and know what you'll do if threatened by fire. Remember to report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000) immediately.
