Northbridge Garbage Truck Fire
This is why batteries don’t belong in the bin 🔋 🙅
Recently, one of our contracted garbage trucks caught fire in Northbridge, due to a lithium battery smouldering and igniting contents the truck was carrying.
The truck was redirected to Tunks Park, where the driver successfully extinguished the fire before emergency services arrived.
The truck was then safely returned to the Council Waste depot in Artarmon for further inspections. We’re please to report that in this case there were no injuries sustained.
Batteries don’t belong in the bin. This includes batteries within electrical devices like cameras, power tools, phones and laptops.
