If you want to know just how much One Nation cares about Aussie workers, you don’t need to look any further than their own hiring practices.

Despite raising over $4 million, they prefer offshoring jobs to the Phillipines for a few dollars an hour instead of employing the Australians they claim to represent.

This is the future of work we can expect under a One Nation/Liberal/National unholy alliance.

Under Alan Joyce, Qantas led a race to the bottom on wages and conditions in aviation, setting up shell companies to employ cabin crew and other workers on the minimum award wage instead of the collective agreement negotiated in good faith by Qantas workers. Some Qantas flights could have 6 cabin crew employed by 6 different companies.

The Albanese Government's Same Job Same Pay laws have closed that loophole, but there's far more damage to undo across the industry. That's why I support Transport Workers Union - TWU Safe and Secure Skies campaign.

The truth is that Grill’d fought against basic standards for their employees every step of the way, and are only now changing their tune after workers and their unions held Grill’d to account.

The only thing bloody about Qantas' COVID record was their mistreatment of staff and customers.

While the former Coalition government handed it a $2.7bn taxpayer-funded relief package, Qantas' brazenness only escalated: ghost flights, illegal outsourcing, dodgy flight credits and the criminal sacking of a union health and safety representative were just some examples of the company's abhorrent behaviour during COVID.

So instead of patting themselves on the back for safeguarding pandemic profits, maybe Qantas should think about the human costs of its bottom line.
