Rachels Cottage has 2 double bedrooms, a lounge with an open fireplace, a bathroom which has a clawfoot bath and a detached kitchen including modern cooking facilities as well as a traditional crown dover stove if you want to cook the old fashioned way. t. Texas is a small town, approx 4 hrs drive from Brisbane. It is great to spend a few days there relaxing, and using the time to explore the local area, play a game of golf or lawn bowls. There is a historical museum which exhibits remnants of the town's to***co and rabbit history. The town is approx 1 - 1 1/2 hours drive to many centres such as Goondiwindi, Stanthorpe, Tenterfield and Inverell. All a lovely, scenic drive which can also include visiting wineries, and fossicking for sapphires.

With so many lovely new people to the Texas area and visitors to The Shed at Goat Rock, we thought it was time to refresh peoples memories of what Texas Treats is all about!
Yes!! We still exist! Yes!! We still do catering! ...and yes!!! For the locals who still remember, you can still get your favourite Tekky Treats chips and gravy at The Shed at Goat Rock most Sundays!
We are now based out of our cafe and camping ground, Goat Rock, just 16km south of Texas.
Our delicious homemade jams & relishes are also available at The Shed, and you never know what goodies Vicki will have on the shelf for you to try!

My beautiful Aunty Dhel wrote me an article that reminds us of what life was like at Rachel’s Cottage as she and her sisters and brother were growing up. A time reminiscent when you must dress respectably to go down the street to the cafe, you spoke to your elders with respect and children helped clean the lamps and enjoyed the delicious treats that were made for them.
No television, music from the gramophone and stories from the elders.
