🦁 Acknowledgment vs. Jurat: Do You Know the Difference?

Fellow Notaries, are you guessing, or are you operating with command?
In the Lions Den, we don't just "stamp and sign." We operate from a position of knowledge. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for new notaries is knowing the difference between the two most common certificates.

Here is your Lions Den Quick Breakdown :

🔹 1. Acknowledgment
What it says: The signer acknowledges they signed willingly.
Your Action: You must verify their ID and ask, "Did you sign this willingly?"
Key Detail: They do not have to sign in front of you (they can sign beforehand), but they must appear before you to acknowledge it8888.

🔹 2. Jurat
What it says: The signer swears the content of the document is true.
Your Action: You MUST administer an oath ("Do you solemnly swear...?") AND watch them sign.
Key Detail: They MUST sign in your presence. You cannot notarize a Jurat if it was already signed before they arrived!.
