Did you see this story on CFA’s Facebook? 👀🚒

This is our 1st Lieutenant Brodie and his dad Daryl — our 2nd Lieutenant. Pretty special seeing a father and son both volunteering and turning out together.

It’s also a good reminder that everyone starts somewhere. Most of our members didn’t join with experience — you just turn up, have a go, and learn as you go.

If you’ve ever thought about joining but weren’t sure, this is your sign 👍

We’re always looking for more locals to get involved — whether that’s on the trucks, supporting the brigade, or just wanting to be part of the team.

Brodie went from watching the fire trucks to leading his local brigade 🚒

Growing up around his local brigade, CFA volunteer Brodie Goodwin always knew he’d join CFA, it was just a matter of when. Soon to be a brigade captain and passionate trainer, Brodie is proud to serve alongside his dad and give back to his community.

Planned Burn Notification – Callignee (Neaves Road)

Tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd, you may notice increased CFA activity around Neaves Road, Callignee.

CFA will be conducting a planned burn from approximately 11:00am. Fire appliances and personnel will be operating in the area throughout the day.

During this time, you may see or smell smoke as the burn is carried out. This is part of a fuel reduction program, which helps to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires.

Last night our brigade came together to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Traralgon South Fire Brigade.

On 7 March 1946, the Traralgon South Rural Fire Brigade was officially registered with the Country Fire Authority. In those early days, the brigade was made up of local residents and farmers equipped with little more than knapsacks, rakes and beaters, working together to protect their community.

Over the years the brigade has evolved into the modern, well-equipped volunteer firefighting brigade we are today, now operating three appliances and supported by extensive training and equipment – a far cry from those early days.

The evening brought together members and their families to celebrate the brigade’s history, reflect on past memories and share stories of their journeys with the CFA – whether that be three years of service or more than sixty.

On behalf of the brigade, I would like to thank all members, past and present, for their dedication and service to both our brigade and the community. I would also like to thank the families of our members who have also gave lots and supported the brigade throughout the years.

Here’s to the next chapter and many more years of service ahead.

Brodie Goodwin
Lieutenant
Traralgon South Fire Brigade

Last night’s training saw our crews working with CFA’s Mobile Training Commercial Kitchen Prop.

Using a controlled flame, the prop is designed to simulate a standard-layout commercial kitchen fire 🔥

This gave our crews the opportunity to practise forcible entry, door entry and gas cooling, and internal firefighting techniques.

If this looks like something you’d be interested in, send us a message — we’d be happy to have a chat about joining the brigade.

🚒 Early Morning Call-Out – Hyland Highway

In the early hours of Sunday morning, members from the Traralgon South Fire Brigade responded to yet another stolen and torched car fire.

Crews from both Traralgon South and Traralgon Fire Brigade quickly donned breathing apparatus and worked together to extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading into nearby paddocks and causing further damage.

A reminder that our volunteers are on call 24/7 to keep our community safe — if you’re interested in giving back and joining a great team, get in touch with us anytime.

Thanks to Traralgon Fire Brigade - CFA Volunteers for assisting on scene and lending a BA operator.
And also to Hazelwood North CFA, Callignee CFA and Frv77 who all turned out but weren’t required on scene.

Stay safe everyone. 👍

Today, 7 February, marks the anniversary of the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.

A day that had a profound and lasting impact on our local community here in Traralgon South and across Victoria. Today we remember those who lost their lives, homes, and livelihoods, and acknowledge the resilience and strength shown by our community in the years since.

We also recognise the ongoing importance of preparedness, awareness, and looking out for one another as we head into every fire season.

Thank You Latrobe City Council 🚒

Traralgon South Fire Brigade would like to extend a sincere thank you to Latrobe City Council for approving a $600 Quick Response Community Grant for our brigade.

Thanks to this funding, we’ve been able to purchase four new office chairs for our station. While it might seem like a small upgrade, it makes a big difference. The new office chairs will allow our members to complete administrative and training tasks in greater comfort, and importantly giving members the option to work from the station on days of high fire risk.

Having members on station during elevated fire danger periods helps ensure we can provide a faster response to our community when it matters most.

We truly appreciate Latrobe City Council’s continued support of local volunteer organisations and the work we do to keep our community safe. 👏🔥
