Tourism and Events NT is thrilled at the announcement that Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s production company, Wild State, has entered into an exclusive partnership with the iconic Tatts Finke Desert Race.

The partnership is supported by the Northern Territory Government, with Screen Territory and Tourism and Events NT providing financial assistance to major productions and events that can be leveraged into global storytelling opportunities, helping to drive increased visitation, destination awareness and long term economic impact for the benefit of the NT.

CHRIS HEMSWORTH WILD STATE PARTNERS WITH TATTS FINKE DESERT RACE ON GLOBAL SCREEN PRODUCTIONS

Screen Territory welcomes the announcement that Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s production company, Wild State, has entered into an exclusive partnership with the iconic Tatts Finke Desert Race to develop a slate of scripted and unscripted projects centred on one of Australia’s most legendary motorsport events.

The collaboration includes development of a narrative feature film inspired by the Tatts Finke Desert Race, alongside unscripted content documenting the event and freestyle motocross champion Robbie Maddison’s first attempt at the race as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2026.

The announcement reflects the growing profile and capability of the Northern Territory screen industry, and the increasingly important role screen production is playing in amplifying the Territory’s broader economic, tourism and destination marketing objectives.

As the scale and ambition of productions filming in the Territory continues to grow, opportunities are emerging to leverage screen storytelling alongside major events and tourism experiences to build global awareness of the Northern Territory and drive long-term economic outcomes.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is already one of the Territory’s most iconic events, attracting thousands of visitors to Central Australia each year. Through Screen Territory and Tourism and Events NT’s integrated approach, this partnership will showcase the Territory’s extraordinary landscapes, adventurous spirit and internationally recognised events to audiences around the world.
