Last month, students undertaking GEG2ACR Australian Cities and Regions completed their regional fieldtrip, visiting Bendigo and Maryborough to learn about how the goldrush shaped these settlements, the role and support for cultural infrastructure as well as key planning and development issues - thanks to a wide range of representatives from the City of Greater Bendigo, Central Goldfields Shire, Central Goldfields Art Gallery, Central Goldfields Visitor Information Centre, Djaa Djuwima and Dr Charles Fahey for sharing your valuable knowledge and time.

Last week was a big week of fieldtrips for students studying Australian Cities and Regions (GEG2ACR) - involving a fascinating heritage walking tour of Northcote with the wonderful Darebin Libraries staff, a great overview on the City of Melbourne's planning and social housing objectives at the Melbourne Town Hall and learning valuable insights about growth areas planning from Wyndham Shire Council and mixed use development from the Cedar Woods team.

Join PIA in Bendigo on Thursday 7 September for a special panel discussion to find out what are the key elements for creating a rewarding and satisfying planning career in Regional Victoria. The session will explore the topics of career planning, the broad set of skills required to make planning a career of choice and how you can help shape our regional cities and towns. Facilitated by a Victorian Young Planner committee member, we'll be hearing from two regional planning professionals as well as a regional careers advisor, followed by a Q&A with finger food provided.

The panel includes, Martin Collins, Senior Skills Advisor, Loddon Campus, Victorian Skills Authority; Melissa Kennedy, academic, La Trobe University Bendigo Campus, and Adele Hayes, Coordinator Statutory Planning, City of Greater Bendigo.
