Hi Neighbours 🌸

This will be my last post.

Our safety, well being and quality of life should never be compromised our homes are our Castle and the surrounds, no one has walked our shoes, our dear Neighbours who have since passed, and the Family passed on their correspondence as they were instrumental to see improvements after Town Centre was built. We live in different times now. The Court Case Outcome in 2017 was only the beginning and thankfully justice prevailed, as we sat in Court for the whole 5 days, we knew what needed to be done for ourselves and our area, which we had been lobbying since 2004. So we were no longer prepared to wait any longer. In brief we Started implementing safety/preventative strategies and also requested Council and Town Centre to step in. Their were no initial sit down formal discussions, lots of emails going back and forth.

I am one of three admins on this page and will be removing myself. Thank you to those of you who could see our long term vision for ourselves and the area. It is a unique location of Victoria Point. For future updates for eg. enhancing the Corridor will probably use my personal page or a letterbox drop on Sycamore parade. It is a wonderful page that was set up to bring awareness but also as a form of a Neighbourhood Watch.

We would like to wish you and your families and loved ones a Merry Christmas and a happy and Healthy New Year.🎄

Take care💗

Hi Neighbours,

Will share what just happened we had two individuals park across the road then they preceded to go down the Easement into Town Centre they came through about half hour bought attention to themselves, earlier today we placed a Christmas decoration on the mesh with zip ties to make sure it was secure but more importantly to bring a little joy for families and little ones and our Grandchildren and us big kids as well.🎄 The individual proceeded to yank it off I went outside and confronted them, took a deep breath and asked for our decoration and why they had taken it.
One apologised not sure if it was sincere, they said would return with a decoration, I said just pay it forward to someone they know that is doing it tough.
We mentioned this our Neighbourhood and that behaviour is not tolerated.

That’s why we will continue pushing for Security Guards around this vicinity and improvements, if they want the access.

Have a good night 🌻

Happy Saturday Neighbours🌸

Yesterday we did a walk through the Corridor picked up some litter around the fig tree 🌳.
In the Neighbourhood Park, Council must have had a tidy up their was some litter but not as bad as we anticipated. Council mowed the Corridor looks lovely nice and green 🌱

This afternoon went out the back as it’s been a few weeks and starting to feel better, the w**ds are growing like crazy. What I came across was a smashed bottle in the new garden. For the individuals that are not aware there is a bin at the rear of Town Centre. It poses a risk for us when we are tidying up, also for anyone that steps in their.

Enjoy your Saturday 🎄

Hi Neighbours 🌻

Happy Friday

Some local updates.

Firstly what we can share.

Thank you to my better half mowed the Easement again, in between Council Contractors, lovely rain ☔️ we are having at the moment.

Thank you to Council/Parks for coming by and sorting out the tree 🌳 which was damaged, mainly left for habitat.

For those of us who put official submissions/concerns in 2018 for the proposed Development on Boundary Road, we received our official notifications from Council and the outcome.

We also received notifications with the upgrade clearing of trees between Magnolia Pde and Anita Street. We will be requesting if their are aerial shots of before and after of the removal of the trees sadly. Victoria Point was never designed for this level of growth, we were a Bayside Village.

We made contact again with Home-Co who are the new owners of Town Centre, we finally received a phone call and briefed them pre Court case and post Court case. We do know their will not be on site Management which for us and our surrounds poses a concern. As we are dealing with three jurisdictions here Town Centre, Council, State. What we put forward initially if Home-Co will consider Security Guards, As Victoria Point Shopping Centre across the road have always employed Security Guards seven days a week. But we did find the Home-Co Representative was very understanding and they agreed we were here first so permanent improvements should have been addressed.

Also all our efforts with VPSH since 2017, we feel will now be impacted due to Home-Co having no Management on site. We have also sent an email to their new Principal and copied in Stakeholders again.

The gate was always a contentious issue and bought up in Court, which we brought up with Home-Co as it’s Councils responsibility to open and lock at designated times. Over the years we have requested the contact details of the Contractor or a spare key, to date they have declined which we are perplexed why. As in October again a whole weekend left unlocked, we contacted after hours Council no. they were not able to help us, also Cleveland Police said for us to try and lock and explained the situation as they know the gate area. Seems to be consistent again getting locked thankfully, but we will endeavour to have this resolved permanently.

Have sent an application to address Councils General Meeting the Subject matter post Court case, early January 2022.

We have also reached out to Stakeholders and enquired about securing funding for CCTV cameras in our Corridor and shared our current situation. Council advised only State or Federal funding will be needed. As Councils Camera Policy only extends to Council assets and illegal dumping.

On Tuesday looked like a war zone in our Neighbourhood. Thank goodness it was resolved without any serious repercussions.

I have decided will look at writing a book about this history of Victoria Point. The Redlands is still a beautiful part of the South East. It’s the Developers who should be held to account when they destroy Ratepayers quality of life, safety and Poor Planning and were not open and transparent with us right from the beginning.

We have saved thousands upon thousands of dollars $$$$$ looking after Council property as with our Neighbour for approximately 30 years plus. Perhaps Council Senior Management should consider to start giving instead of taking.

Have a wonderful Friday 🌸

Hi Neighbours🌻

Hope everyone is ok after the Storm last night.

Just went for a walk to check how things were in the Corridor, unfortunately a tree 🌳 has come down, thank goodness it did not fall on our Neighbours Fence, it’s not posing a problem and is wedged, and not compromising the green natural path. Will contact Council in the morning and see if it can be left as a form of habitat.

The second image is a vine which is a w**d and has grown wild with all this lovely rain. Has the most beautiful purple flowers.

Enjoy your Sunday 🌻

Stay safe Everyone!

Happy Friday Everyone🌻

We had lovely rain ☔️ through the week everything is looking nice and green.

We mowed the Easement yesterday, so looking tidy again.

Great to see The Cage stop by this morning and inspected the Corridor.

Will be getting in the Corridor, hopefully on a regular basis.

We have reached out and shared our Situation yesterday, due to not getting any responses from key Stakeholders. Hopefully in the New Year will get a clearer picture, as the New Management of Town Centre have not endeavoured to make contact to date, they have a duty of Care if they want the access. We will contact Cleveland Police and ask for helpful hints again, especially when their are issues in the rear and spill out in the Corridor as their are no Security Guards patrolling currently. They do have 24 hour signage for Security on their side of the fence, please find image below👇

Police are strongly urging us to keep reporting. When we had Detectives recently checking footage they also made the observation about the speeding on Sycamore Parade which is only 50klm, we mentioned have sent countless emails to Local and State.

It’s a lovely time of the year and now the countdown till Christmas 🎄

We feel we are slowly turning a positive corner, turning a blind eye is not being proactive and putting it in the to hard basket.

Stay safe and well 🌸

Hi Neighbours😊

Happy Friday

Hope your enjoying this lovely wet weather ☔️ 🌧☔️ and staying safe.

Last night we attended a Bayside Crime Prevention Workshop Forum held by QPS at the Sharks club, and was informative.

One of the topics was Community Camera Alliance which encourages home owners with CCTV cameras to register the Cameras with QPS, to prevent crime and make the Community Safer.

We will be requesting one more speech post Court Case at Councils General Meeting.

For the locals who are new to the area in the past few years, have attached the Conditions of how our protected Corridor came about, the remaining trees are the original before it was developed. It is State owned and Council as Trustee and dedicated to the Community to act as a buffer. We are extremely protective of our Corridor and fought hard for three years to protect it from being destroyed for approximately 180 car parks.

Last night we also spoke with the Coordinator of Bayside Crimestoppers and in the new year will put out expressions of interest in the Neighbourhood either in a form of a letterbox drop or other avenues, to have a chat with us and hear all the wonderful work they are doing.

It was reassuring seeing a strong Police presence here on Saturday afternoon.

We are still waiting for a response from the new Town Centre owners, also Council. Individuals are still ignoring the signage, which we have requested improvements to enforce the Bylaw by Council, the images will continue to be sent.

Have a super weekend 🌻
