Hi Neighbours 🌻
Happy Friday
Some local updates.
Firstly what we can share.
Thank you to my better half mowed the Easement again, in between Council Contractors, lovely rain ☔️ we are having at the moment.
Thank you to Council/Parks for coming by and sorting out the tree 🌳 which was damaged, mainly left for habitat.
For those of us who put official submissions/concerns in 2018 for the proposed Development on Boundary Road, we received our official notifications from Council and the outcome.
We also received notifications with the upgrade clearing of trees between Magnolia Pde and Anita Street. We will be requesting if their are aerial shots of before and after of the removal of the trees sadly. Victoria Point was never designed for this level of growth, we were a Bayside Village.
We made contact again with Home-Co who are the new owners of Town Centre, we finally received a phone call and briefed them pre Court case and post Court case. We do know their will not be on site Management which for us and our surrounds poses a concern. As we are dealing with three jurisdictions here Town Centre, Council, State. What we put forward initially if Home-Co will consider Security Guards, As Victoria Point Shopping Centre across the road have always employed Security Guards seven days a week. But we did find the Home-Co Representative was very understanding and they agreed we were here first so permanent improvements should have been addressed.
Also all our efforts with VPSH since 2017, we feel will now be impacted due to Home-Co having no Management on site. We have also sent an email to their new Principal and copied in Stakeholders again.
The gate was always a contentious issue and bought up in Court, which we brought up with Home-Co as it’s Councils responsibility to open and lock at designated times. Over the years we have requested the contact details of the Contractor or a spare key, to date they have declined which we are perplexed why. As in October again a whole weekend left unlocked, we contacted after hours Council no. they were not able to help us, also Cleveland Police said for us to try and lock and explained the situation as they know the gate area. Seems to be consistent again getting locked thankfully, but we will endeavour to have this resolved permanently.
Have sent an application to address Councils General Meeting the Subject matter post Court case, early January 2022.
We have also reached out to Stakeholders and enquired about securing funding for CCTV cameras in our Corridor and shared our current situation. Council advised only State or Federal funding will be needed. As Councils Camera Policy only extends to Council assets and illegal dumping.
On Tuesday looked like a war zone in our Neighbourhood. Thank goodness it was resolved without any serious repercussions.
I have decided will look at writing a book about this history of Victoria Point. The Redlands is still a beautiful part of the South East. It’s the Developers who should be held to account when they destroy Ratepayers quality of life, safety and Poor Planning and were not open and transparent with us right from the beginning.
We have saved thousands upon thousands of dollars $$$$$ looking after Council property as with our Neighbour for approximately 30 years plus. Perhaps Council Senior Management should consider to start giving instead of taking.
Have a wonderful Friday 🌸
