Did you know there is a data centre in the planning approval stage for 12 Mars Road next to:

🏠residential streets

📔Lane Cove West Public School

⚽️ Blackman Park

🪴 Lane Cove Nursery

🪾 Bushland

It does not sound like the right location for our community!

At the Bennelong Sports Centre today was such a fun game of netball. Councillors across NSW battled it out against State politicians… we were only just defeated! Good catch up with some councillors I know well and a few new ones. All in the lead up to the Netball World Cup 2027.

The article below is a timely reminder of why the motion put forward by Councillor Rochelle Flood last week was so important.
Councillors Rochelle Flood and Scott Bennison both supported the concerns raised by the Lane Cove West community they represent and recognised the need to pause the planning process for the proposed data centre at 12 Mars Road, ensuring that planning controls catch up before approvals are granted for developments that could have significant long-term impacts on nearby residents, our bushland, and local infrastructure.

Councillor Katie Little - Lane Cove, who lives in Hunters Hill rather than Lane Cove, voted against the motion. I was disappointed that she chose to support her party's position rather than back a temporary pause that would have allowed time for stronger planning protections for the community that elected her.

I hope that the Federal and State government listen to the work of the Lane Cove Responsible Planning Group; Lane Cove Bushland & Conservation Society; Lane Cove Council to name a new on this matter.

Talking natural turf…there was a lot of time, science and $ invested into the FIFA World Cup grass. But they are a team from right here in Australia. So we should benefit from this new hybrid product. Only 5% artificial.
