~ Year 12 Skippers Training ~

This term, a record 14 students have begun working towards their Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST), making it our biggest maritime group in seven years!

Each Friday, students head to the Marine Safety WA Education Boatshed in East Fremantle to build their knowledge and practical skills, learning everything from safe vessel operation and navigation rules to maritime laws and boat maintenance.

It's been fantastic to see their enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment both on and off the water. We look forward to following their journey as they work towards earning their RST and becoming safe, confident skippers.

Our Year 12 Podcasting Project, in partnership with Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation, has been nominated for its innovative approach to empowering First Nations students to share their stories, strengthen their cultural identity, and develop valuable communication and media skills.

~ Perth Redbacks Basketball Careers Program ~

This week, our Year 9 program group facilitator Laniesha from Perth Redbacks invited 2025 WAFL Sandover Medal runner-up, former AFL player (St Kilda and Richmond) and current South Fremantle Football Club player, Matthew Parker to speak with our students.

Matthew shared inspiring stories from his professional sporting career, offering valuable insights into dedication, teamwork and resilience. While this activity formed part of our specialised Year 9 program, it was opened up to all our students who were interested in attending.

~ Catholic Education Retreat Days~

Over the past few months, our students have taken part in this year's Retreat Days, spending time reflecting, connecting and growing in faith.

Our Year 9-12 students were led by the wonderful team from YMT Perth, exploring themes such as leadership, relationships, self-worth, social justice and God's presence in their lives. Our Year 7-8 students enjoyed engaging Reflection Days with 24:7 Youth Ministry, encouraging faith, connection and personal growth.

We are grateful to both ministry teams for sharing their passion, faith and expertise with our students.

~Year 10 Book Project~

Our Year 10 students are currently working on their My Journey books as part of our longstanding partnership with The University of Notre Dame Australia.

This collaborative project provides a wonderful opportunity for students to share their stories, develop their literacy skills and celebrate their unique experiences, with support from Notre Dame's pre-service teachers. Through the process of storytelling and two-way learning, students create a book that reflects important aspects of their lives and identities.

We look forward to celebrating the completion of these books at a special launch event in November, where families, students and members of the Clontarf and Notre Dame communities will come together to recognise the hard work, creativity and achievements of our students.
