🌟 Celebrating the Heart of Our Community 🌟

Behind every strong community are the people who give their time, energy, and care to support others. From grassroots initiatives to local programs, our volunteers are the driving force creating connection, opportunity, and belonging across the Inner City. We’re proud to shine a light on some of the incredible individuals and groups whose efforts make a real difference every single day. 👏💛
South Sydney Herald
In a time when print media is declining and funding is tight, the South Sydney Herald continues to shine—delivering 22,000 copies locally each month and reaching another 30,000 readers online. Their commitment to independent, community-focused storytelling keeps the voices of Redfern and Waterloo heard.

CRC
Every week, an incredible team of volunteers powers the local bike group—serving on the steering committee and giving up two evenings to share their skills. Across summer, they support up to 50 people in a single night, helping build confidence, connection, and community through bikes.

Spanish Community Care Association & Counterpoint Students
Recognising the ongoing contributions of volunteers who continue to strengthen community support networks and programs through care, learning, and connection.

Community Dignity Response
Working tirelessly on the ground—this team brings people together with initiatives like the Saturday BBQ outside OzHarvest in Waterloo and their new Friday lunch, already earning fantastic feedback.

Redlink – Community Activation in Redfern
Through social activities and shared experiences, Redlink continues to foster inclusion and connection, bringing people together and strengthening community spirit.

👏 To all these volunteers—thank you for the time, care, and passion you give. You are what makes our community thrive. 💛

We’ve been a little quiet on our socials lately—May has been a whirlwind of activities and events! Keep an eye out for more photos coming soon from our Volunteer Awards and the City of Sydney Redfern Waterloo Pet Day.

We also wrapped up Neighbourhood Centre Week with an Elvis extravaganza at the Waterloo Neighbourhood Centre. As you can see, everyone had an absolute ball!

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Waterloo Redevelopment Group 🌟

A huge shoutout to the Waterloo Redevelopment Group, one of the most proactive and highly engaged resident groups in the area. 👏
This dedicated group continues to bring together agencies, residents, and stakeholders, ensuring community voices are heard on all matters relating to the Waterloo redevelopment. Their patience, resilience, and commitment throughout the stop-start nature of government engagement has been remarkable.

Thank you for your leadership, persistence, and passion for your community 💙

We were delighted to come together on Tuesday to celebrate the incredible contributions of local volunteers at this year’s Volunteer Awards.

Surrounded by over 100 members of our community, the day was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the dedication, generosity and impact of those who give their time to support others.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day a success. We’re especially grateful to the Counterpoint team, our partners, the City of Sydney, and Homes NSW for their continued support in strengthening our community.

We are so proud to celebrate you 💙

We will be sharing more photos throughout the week, so keep an eye on our socials.
