Over the past few months, Footscray Unit has been getting prepared for fuel price increases.

We’ve already adopted electric chainsaws and electric pole saws, with great success. Now it’s time to update our fleet. As of today, our emergency response crews will be travelling on e-bikes to all jobs.

Our motto has always been “what’s said in the truck stays in the truck.” Since nobody could think of a new motto, our crews have been practicing formation riding so that we can pretend we're still in a truck.

Please bear with us as response times to some locations may increase slightly.

Since early this morning, while most of us slept, our volunteers have been out responding to multiple requests for assistance, from trees blocking traffic to building damage in the rain, helping keep our community safe and our daily routines running uninterrupted.

⚠️ Please stay safe: avoid fallen trees and watch out for debris.

Over the weekend, Footscray members took part in the Women in Rescue training event 🧡

The weekend brought together volunteers from across state for hands on training across a range of scenarios, from search and rescue, to flood response and Safe Working at Heights.

It was a great opportunity to build skills, challenge ourselves, and connect with other women across the service.
