With excitement we’re happy to share that over the school holiday break our new floors were installed! we’re excited to see the possibilities of our new and future learning environments!

As the end of the holidays approach us, we’re also looking forward to welcoming our returning learners and our newest families to Term 3!
We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break.

See you all next week!

'When environments are cared for and thoughtfully composed, they communicate that children and their learning are valued. Beauty is not about decoration; it is about creating spaces that invite curiosity, care and emotional connection for children.'
- K.Goodsir

Through self-assessment the team have been reflecting on the environment as a 'space that speaks'. We have paused, held still and listened carefully to the conversation that our environment is offering to children.

From this, our reflection in action for Term 2 is to think about the layout of our indoor space, so that it organised by children's ideas, and evolves as thinking deepens and ideas change. However, before we can do this, we have identified there are a few steps we must take first in order to create an intentional and flexible learning space, that communicates purpose, intentionality and beauty. Some of these first steps being... removal of the many black Velcro boards displayed across the indoor space, patching of the walls, applying some fresh coats of paint, installing skirting boards within the back rooms, and then the most important to the flow of the space... replacing the flooring to create one seamless and flexible learning environment (which should occur this school holiday break).

To get us started, Kristen and her partner Josh began some quiet updates within the Kindy main room over the Easter break. Removing all the Velcro black boards in most rooms, patching and sanding many walls, installing VJ paneling and applying fresh coats of paint to the walls, skirting boards and the art/kitchen space. Across the next fortnight more changes will occur and this space will evolve.

We wondered, what have you noticed?

Group A Child: "You painted the wall... why did you change the room? are you selling the house?"

Yesterday we celebrated Harmony Day by holding a special morning tea for families and children to share together. This was a wonderful opportunity for our families to connect, share a variety of cultural foods and engage in conversations; sharing the importance of respecting and celebrating cultural diversity.
