There was plenty of laughter coming from Lisa & Ellie’s Cooking Crew during this class as residents used the Thermomix to whip up some delicious choc chip cookies! 🍪💛

While the cookies turned out amazing, the best part was the fun shared along the way. Cooking isn’t always about being serious — sometimes it’s about having a laugh, making memories, sneaking a few choc chips and enjoying each other’s company.

Our residents had a wonderful time mixing, chatting and sharing plenty of smiles throughout the session. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the afternoon so special! 👩‍🍳✨

There were plenty of smiles around the facility recently when care staff member Lee-Anne brought her adorable puppies in for a special visit 🐶💛

The puppies brought so much joy, comfort, and laughter to our residents and staff throughout the day. From cuddles and pats to lots of happy conversations, it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the special visit.

One particularly beautiful moment saw one of our residents peacefully drift off to sleep with a sleepy little puppy curled up in her lap — a truly heartwarming reminder of the comfort and companionship animals can bring.

Thank you, Lee-Anne, for sharing your gorgeous puppies with us and helping create such special memories for our residents. 🌸

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Vicki on receiving the Pride of Workmanship Award presented by the Rotary Club Of Windsor on Wednesday night. 🎉

🏆 The Pride of Workmanship Award is designed to acknowledge an employee, irrespective of age or vocation, who, in the eyes of his or her employer, displays outstanding qualities in terms of approach, attitude, dedication and commitment, to his or her job.

Vicki has been a valued member of the Fitzgerald Aged Care team for an amazing 17 years, working tirelessly in our office and supporting residents, families, staff, and the wider organisation each and every day. Her dedication, kindness, professionalism, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and this award is a wonderful recognition of the care and passion she brings to her role.

It was wonderful to have Board Members Jenny, Christine and Laurie, along with our Business Manager Shelley, attend the evening to celebrate this well-deserved achievement with Vicki.

Congratulations Vicki, and thank you for everything you do for Fitzgerald Aged Care. We are so lucky to have you as part of our team! 💙

This National Volunteer Week, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible volunteers who give so generously to Fitzgerald Aged Care. 💙

Our volunteers bring so much joy, companionship, skill, and kindness into the lives of our residents every single day. From tending our gardens, assisting with cooking classes, helping with arts and crafts, hosting trivia and bingo, serving on the tea trolley, assisting with group outings, bus driving, reading aloud, assisting in the admin office and simply spending time in compassionate conversation and visits — your contribution is truly invaluable.

Not every volunteer is captured in photos, but that certainly does not mean their contribution is any less important. Many quietly give their time behind the scenes, offering comfort, support, friendship, and care in ways that deeply impact our residents and community.

We would also like to sincerely acknowledge our dedicated Board Members, who volunteer their expertise, leadership, and time to help keep Fitzgerald the wonderful facility it is today. Your commitment and guidance are deeply appreciated.

To every volunteer who supports Fitzgerald Aged Care — thank you. Your generosity, compassion, and dedication make a meaningful difference every day, and we are so grateful to have you as part of our community. 🌟

Last week, our residents spent time creating beautiful handmade thank you cards for all of our wonderful staff in celebration of International Nurses Day 💙

Each card was thoughtfully designed with heartfelt messages of appreciation to recognise the kindness, compassion, and dedication shown by our team every single day. It was such a meaningful activity for our residents, who truly value the care and support they receive from all staff across the facility.

International Nurses Day is a special opportunity to acknowledge the incredible work of nurses and carers, and our residents loved being able to give something personal back to those who care for them.

Thank you to all of our amazing staff for the difference you make in the lives of our residents and families each day. 🌸

Ellie and Lisa’s Cooking Crew have been busy in the kitchen! 👩‍🍳🍪🥤

Using Ellie’s amazing Thermomix skills, the group whipped up delicious thickshakes and freshly baked ANZAC cookies for everyone to enjoy. The wonderful smells coming from the kitchen certainly brought back plenty of memories and smiles for our residents.

Activities like these are such a lovely way to bring people together, encourage conversation, and create moments of joy throughout the day. A big thank you to Ellie, our Kitchen Manager, for sharing her Thermomix and helping make the afternoon extra special!

We would also like to sincerely thank our wonderful Cooking Crew volunteers who assist with every cooking class. Your kindness, time, and support help make these activities so enjoyable and meaningful for our residents each week. 💛

We were honoured to welcome the Hon. Mark Butler, Federal Minister for Health and Ageing and our local Federal Member of Parliament, Ms. Susan Templeman to Fitzgerald, alongside several of our Board Members, for an important discussion about the future of aged care in our community.

During the visit, we shared our hopes and vision for Fitzgerald - and shared our pride at receiving a Five Star rating in February from the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. We also shared our plans for a development which would increase our capacity by 24 beds. In the meeting we discussed the current capital funding model which has denied Fitzgerald access to grant funding desperately needed to undertake the development. We discussed the issue that because Fitzgerald is classified as Metropolitan (MMM1) we have not been eligible to apply for grants. The Minister was very responsive and understood why this development is so important. Ms. Templeman, who was previously a Board Director at Fitzgerald, advocated strongly for us.

Fitzgerald is shovel-ready to begin the extension that would deliver critical additional beds for our local community—an expansion that would not only support our ageing population but also help ease ongoing bed-blocking pressures in our local hospitals.
We remain committed to advocating for access to this vital capital funding so we can continue to provide the care and support our community deserves.

Thank you again to Minister Butler and Ms Templeman for taking the time to visit, listen, and engage in these important conversations.

Today at Fitzgerald Aged Care, we are proudly celebrating International Nurses Day and recognising the incredible dedication, compassion and professionalism of nurses everywhere. 💙

Observed each year on 12 May, International Nurses Day marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and celebrates the vital role nurses play in caring for individuals, families and communities around the world.

The 2026 International Nurses Day theme is “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” — highlighting the importance of supporting and empowering nurses to continue providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care every day 🥰

At Fitzgerald Aged Care, we are so grateful for our wonderful nursing team whose kindness, skill and commitment make such a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and families each and every day.

A very special thank you to Windsor Funeral Home for generously providing a beautiful morning tea for our staff to enjoy while celebrating this special occasion. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated. ☕🧁

Happy International Nurses Day to all our amazing nurses! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
