We survived another Flood Threat. A very lucky escape !!
What a fantastic day in Windsor today, not a cloud in sight and Warragamba has stopped overflowing. Sydney Water have however opened the flood gates to reduce the water level in the dam to conduct some maintenance works - this could be the level of the river for about 3 weeks....

Living and working on the river we all expect a flood and adverse conditions at times. Suffering over 7 major floods in 4 years causing tens of millions of dollars damage that could have been minimsed significantly by our politicians working together for our communities and not for their own political awareness. Some politicians think these natural disasters are just for another photo opportunity - promise us the world and deliver NOTHING !!! We need to have flood mitigation on the river now to protect everyone downstream of Warragamba Dam. Ian Burns

Update on The Hawkesbury Paddlewheeler
Another long day in the river today repairing the damaged rudders. A HUGE THANKS to Suddsy and Skaifey for all your help today guys. We managed to get the rudders welded back on but the pins that allow them to move are bent and seized. Unfortunately it is going to have to come out of the water to replace the steering system

... Update on damage from the flood ...
I was able to get into the river on Monday to have a look at the damaged rudders. Unfortunately it was worse than first thought. One rudder is completely snapped off and the other is just hanging on. I have a welder coming out on Friday and hopefully we will be able to do a repair on both rudders to be able to drive and steer the boat.
It looks like another trip down to Brooklyn to pull the boat out of the water to do a proper repair and make sure the rest of the hull is in perfect condition for cruising. Another very expensive moment !!

What a transformation in a couple of days !!!
An incredible clean up job by Hawkesbury City Council at Windsor wharf and Governor Phillip Park. When the river water levels return to normal the clean up of debris can begin.
A massive shout out to Service NSW Disaster Recovery Centers that have popped up in Wilberforce and Windsor along with all the Community Groups assisting residents that have been flood affected AGAIN.
We have a truly amazing and resilient community that will once again rise and flourish into the future.
