Today being WOW day it seems like the perfect day to officially launch our advertising campaign for our annual internship program!!

Like last year we will be running this during term 3 for 14 to 17 year olds.

We are still deciding which night of the week but likely monday or tuesday, BUT while we are deciding please scan the QR to register an expression of interest OR please feel free to message is directly via messenger for more information

Todays theme song is "with a little help from my friends" as we teamed up with our friends Roger and Wayne from NSW SES - Yass Unit to remove this tree from on top of a house in Reids flat. A tricky and technical job done with finesse, even if we do say so ourselves!

Today 7 of our members, both past and present, recieved Premier's citations acknowledging the invaluable contributions to the response efforts during the major floods that impacted NSW from 2022 to 2023
During those 2 years NSW endured catastophic floods that set new records for rainfall in river catchments and flood plaines across many regions, including Hilltops. Our team put there lives on hold too assist all those across our shire that needed them, and will continue to do so.

Also congratulations to Sally and Katianne on both receiving there 5 year long service awards

🧡 WOW Day 2026 🧡

Next Wednesday 20 May, is Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) — a day to recognise and thank the incredible NSW SES volunteers who give their time to support communities across the state.

From responding to storms and floods, to helping communities prepare for emergencies, our volunteers are there when it matters most.

Here are a few simple ways you can show your support this WOW Day:

🧡 Encourage your workplace, school, or community group to join in
🧡 Host a morning tea to recognise local volunteers
🧡 Say thank you to the volunteers helping keep communities safe

Young Unit is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of two Marine Rescue volunteers overnight. This tragic event reminds us of the dangers emergency service workers face daily. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones.
