Culture. Connection. Confidence.

At the specialized Landship Summer Camp at George Lamming Primary School, campers are discovering that learning goes far beyond the classroom.

Through engaging sessions on the Barbados Landship, campers are not only learning about one of our country’s treasured cultural traditions but are also being introduced to elements of African heritage that encourage positive thinking, self-confidence and uplifting one another in everything they do.

The experience was made even more special with a visit from Her Excellency Elizabeth Taylor Jay, Ambassador of Colombia to Barbados, along with a group of young students from Colombia. Together, the campers and their Colombian counterparts participated in the activities, sharing laughter, learning and cultural exchange. The engagement was an absolutely amazing experience for both the Barbadian and Colombian youth.

This memorable visit created meaningful opportunities for young people to build friendships, appreciate different cultures and broaden their global perspective.

Together, we’re building confident, culturally aware young people—one experience at a time.

The Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps trainees were out in full force today, proudly serving in their various roles throughout the 2026 Emancipation Day celebrations.

This is what BYAC is all about - young men and women showing up with discipline, pride and a commitment to service. Today was no exception and they delivered excellently as always.

The Barbados YouthADVANCE Corps is a two-year developmental programme for young men and women aged 16 to 20. New intake coming soon.

HAPPY EMANCIPATION DAY, BARBADOS! 🇧🇧✊🏾

Today, August 1st, 2026, the Division of Youth Affairs, Prime Minister's Office, pauses to honour the resilience, resistance and freedom of our ancestors.

Emancipation Day is more than a public holiday. It is a powerful reminder of the strength and courage of those who came before us and a call to our young people to understand, appreciate and carry forward the legacy of freedom that was hard fought and hard won.

To know where you are going, you must know where you came from. May we never forget. 🇧🇧✊🏾

Campers at the National Summer Camp 2026 – Gordon Greenidge location took part in an engaging session led by Mr. Shawn Parris and Mrs. Candice Parris, volunteers with Save Soil, one of our NSCP partners.

Through hands-on activities, campers learned about the importance of healthy soil, sustainable living, and simple ways to protect the environment, including reducing single-use plastics and reusing natural materials. They also discovered how rabbit manure enriches soil and transformed coconut husks into eco-friendly pot scrubbers to take home.

The interactive session encouraged campers to see how small, everyday actions can help create a more sustainable future.
