Revolutionary Student Council to Organize Human Chain Commemorating Rohingya
Genocide Remembrance Day
DHAKA, BANGLADESH – August 23, 2026 – The Revolutionary Student Council today announced it will organize a human chain demonstration to commemorate the 9th Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day. The event, scheduled for August 25, 2026, will take place at the National Press Club in Dhaka, beginning at 11:00 AM BDT.
The demonstration aims to raise awareness and advocate for critical rights and solutions for the Rohingya people, including:
✪Refugee Recognition: Calling for the international community and host nations to grant full refugee status to Rohingya individuals displaced by persecution.
✪Full Citizenship: Demanding the restoration of full and equal citizenship rights for Rohingya within Myanmar, in accordance with international law.
✪Safe, Voluntary, and Dignified Repatriation: Advocating for conditions that enable the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Rohingya refugees to their ancestral homes in Myanmar, under international oversight.
✪Education Rights for Rohingya Children: Highlighting the urgent need to ensure access to comprehensive and quality education for all Rohingya children, regardless of their location or status.
"On this solemn day, we stand in solidarity with the Rohingya people, who continue to suffer the profound consequences of genocide," stated Abdul Wahed, Convener for the Revolutionary Student Council. "Our
human chain represents a collective call to action for justice, human dignity, and the fundamental rights that have been denied to the Rohingya for far too long. We urge governments, international organizations, and civil society to
intensify their efforts to resolve this ongoing crisis."
Members of the press, human rights advocates, and the public are invited to join the Revolutionary Student Council in this demonstration of solidarity and advocacy.
