Begum Rokeya was not just a reformer; she was a revolution in motion. At a time when society buried women’s voices under layers of ignorance and fear, Rokeya rose with a clarity and courage that shook the foundations of patriarchy. She fought with words, vision, and unbreakable conviction — proving that education is the sharpest weapon against oppression.
Her legendary “Sultana’s Dream” was more than literature; it was a declaration that women deserve a world where dignity, intelligence, and justice guide their lives. By founding Sakhawat Memorial Girls’ School, she carved a path through darkness so that generations of girls could walk toward freedom.
Rokeya’s legacy is not confined to history — it breathes in every woman who dares to dream, to learn, and to rise. She taught us that true liberation begins in the mind and spreads like fire.
Begum Rokeya remains the eternal flame of women’s awakening.
Begum Rokeya Day is being observed today (9 December) to commemorate the life and contributions of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, a trailblazer in the fight for women's rights and education in the Indian subcontinent.
