🇧🇩 World Hemophilia Day 2026: Greetings and Appeal in the Context of Bangladesh
🩸 Introduction
Every year on April 17th, World Hemophilia Day is observed globally. The main goal of this day is to raise awareness about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders and to ensure better treatment for affected patients. Hemophilia is an inherited blood disorder where the blood’s ability to clot is reduced. As a result, even minor injuries can lead to prolonged bleeding, which in many cases can be life-threatening.
💉 Current Situation in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, thousands of hemophilia patients are still deprived of adequate medical care.
Most patients do not receive regular factor (clotting factor). Due to the extremely high cost of treatment, many families fall into financial distress.
In government hospitals, factor supply is limited, causing many patients to live in constant risk of disability and complications.
💰 Cost of Treatment and Financial Reality
The treatment for hemophilia is extremely expensive:
The cost of treatment per patient per year can reach several million taka.
Advanced therapies cost more than 20–30 million taka. As it requires long-term treatment, it becomes a permanent financial burden.
For the average Bangladeshi family, bearing this cost is nearly impossible.

On behalf of all concerned, we present the following demands to the Government of Bangladesh:
✔️ Ensure free or subsidized factor supply in all government hospitals
✔️ Launch a national hemophilia treatment program
✔️ Create a special financial assistance fund for underprivileged patients
✔️ Establish specialized hemophilia treatment centers in each division
✔️ Conduct a national awareness campaign

Hemophilia is not a neglected disease—when given proper treatment, a patient can lead a normal life.
