ICMAB and BAD & HRM of Khulna University Join Hands to Strengthen CMA Professional Advancement
In a significant step toward fostering academic collaboration and advancing the Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) Profession, the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and the Business Administration Discipline & Human Resource Management Discipline of Khulna University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, formalized on January 25, 2026 at KU, marks a new era of partnership, facilitating enhanced opportunities for students, educators, and professionals in the field of accounting and finance.
The MoU was signed by Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, Vice President, ICMAB, and Professor Dr. Md. Noor Un Nabi, Treasurer, Khulna University. The ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from both Institutions. Among the attendees from ICMAB were Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, Council Member & Past President; Mr. Azizur Rahman, FCMA, Chairman, Khulna Branch Council; Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid FCMA, Associate Professor & Head of RP Dept. and Mr. Md. Abdul Maleque, Additional Director (AAD), ICMAB.
Representing Khulna University (KU) at the signing ceremony were Professor Dr. Rumana Haque, Dean of the School of Management and Business Administration; Professor Dr. Md. Nur Alam, Head of the Business Administration Discipline; Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan; and Professor Md. Mehedi Hasan, Head of the Human Resource Management (HRM) Discipline. Associate Professor Md. Enamul Haque of the Business Administration Discipline was also present. Faculty members of both disciplines attended the ceremony.
This strategic collaboration is designed to provide KU students and graduates with course exemptions and admission scholarships when enrolling in the CMA program, making professional accounting education more accessible and rewarding. Beyond these immediate benefits, the partnership also sets the stage for joint academic initiatives, research collaborations, and knowledge-sharing programs aimed at equipping future professionals with the skills and insights needed in a rapidly evolving business environment.
During the ceremony, Dr. Md. Noor Un Nabi, Treasurer, Khulna University expressed his appreciation to ICMAB for initiating this collaboration and encouraged faculty members to actively engage in fostering innovative learning experiences. ICMAB Vice President, Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA, underscored the significance of this partnership in advancing the CMA profession, bridging academic learning with industry demands, and reinforcing Bangladesh’s professional accounting landscape.
The initiative was widely lauded by all participants, who reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the successful ex*****on of the MoU’s objectives. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for greater professional recognition of CMAs, stronger academic-industry linkages, and an enhanced role for cost and management accountants in driving economic progress.
