The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a key global institution delivering justice to the victims of crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, the ICC has come under attack by the US administration of Donald Trump. Under his pressure, two states already withdrew their support for the ICC - Venezuela and Chad - and more might follow in the next few weeks.

We call on political leaders in Europe and around the world not to bend to Trump's pressure and to protect the work of the International Criminal Court. Its functioning, ultimately, is a measure for the safety of all of us.

From tonight onwards, a central park in Brussels will be closed down for an exclusive event by the US Embassy. This triumphalist American event at Cinquantenaire is regrettable: funding (budget: over 3.6 million EUR) "solicited" by the US Embassy directly from Belgian and European companies operating in the US; the privatisation of a public space – a national and European symbol – by a country whose government explicitly scorns and seeks to dismantle the EU and its values (the rule of law, respect for international law, etc.). In truth, this is not regrettable: it is a disgrace!

Cet event américain triomphaliste au 50naire est regrettable : financement (budget : + de 3,6 millions EUR) « sollicité » directement par l'ambassade des États-Unis auprès d'entreprises belges et européennes actives aux USA ; privatisation d'un espace public, symbole national & européen, par un pays dont le gouvernement, explicitement, méprise et vise la disparition de l'UE et de ses valeurs (état de droit, respect du droit international, etc.). À vrai dire, ce n'est pas regrettable : c'est une honte !

Dit triomfalistische Amerikaanse event in het Jubelpark is betreurenswaardig: financiering (budget: meer dan 3,6 miljoen euro) die door de Amerikaanse ambassade rechtstreeks is „gevraagd" aan Belgische en Europese bedrijven die actief zijn in de VS; privatisering van een openbare ruimte, een nationaal en Europees symbool, door een land waarvan de regering de EU en haar waarden (rechtsstaat, eerbiediging van het internationaal recht, enz.) expliciet minacht en erop uit is deze te laten verdwijnen. Dit is niet betreurenswaardig: het is echt een schande!
