Our Story

I became interested in Willie after I heard about him through some mutual friends. He was an expert in so many topics and was really involved in all these racial and social justice initiatives. He was BFFLS with countless badass social and civic impact icons like Roslynn Brock, Chairman Emeritus of the NAACP, Bliss Browne Founder and Creator of Imagine Chicago, and Sally Blount, a personal idol. We had so much in common!! I was really feeling his whole vibe...but I was nervous. I could tell he had really high standards and it seemed like there were hundreds of people vying for his attention. Everyone wanted a piece of that CAT!

When I first proposed to Willie last year, he took three months to make a decision (kinda standard in these relationships but still, I was still anxious). Then, on December 13 2017, I received his hand-typed letter via direct electronic mail service!

“I need to think about it.”

I was hurt. I love him so much!!! How could he not know that we are perfect together?? Willie, you know me. I know you. We want the same things! I wanted to ask him - Do you doubt us? Can you not see our future together? Was it my something from my past? My mostly dubious relationship with capitalism?
