A perfect way to start the New Year is to revisit the definition of a Triskelion, and that is the conglomeration of the three dynamic forces which aims to conquer the universe. I can only say that I am a Triskelion if I become a conglomeration of the three dynamic forces; the Fortis, Voluntas, and Fraternitas.
FORTIS is the highest form of strength because it’s the holistic kind of strength; the strength of the Mind, Body, and Soul. I can strengthen my mind by continuous learning and be a perennial student of the University of Life. My body on the other hand needs proper nourishments and exercise in order to maintain great health. And my soul can be strengthened by being a good person and by doing good deeds; a God-fearing person, so to speak. But it is also imperative that I must avoid all acts and thoughts that can harm my Mind, Body, and Soul. I must therefore avoid vices, drunkenness, drugs, as well as negative thoughts to myself and towards others. This sounds very difficult to perfect but I shall do my best to fulfill them for I have to possess FORTIS in my person because I want to be a true Triskelion.
VOLUNTAS is the freewill to share my skills, talents, and other capabilities in order to make Tau Gamma Phi, a Supreme Fraternity. It is therefore very important to know my strengths and weaknesses so that I will know what’s the best path I need to take in order to excel and prosper. For it is by making myself successful and prosperous that I will gain the best options to help my Fraternity.
FRATERNITAS is Universal Brotherhood. “Primum Nil Nocere, first of all do not harm, let alone in defense of self, for whatever caused man has come into being, for whatever reason he exist, to wherever he is destined, kin to all living creatures around him, Man is a Brother unto Man”. The second tenet says it all; the universality of our brotherhood that we even consider all living creatures as our kin, so much more the human beings. We need to start to be at peace with everybody; to other fraternities, to the community, and most especially among ourselves Triskelions. Time is running out, we need to do it the soonest possible time, for this is the only way to gain FRATERNITAS in our lives. Without it, we can’t be complete.
Dear fellow Triskelions, brods and sis, our initiation rites was just our enrollment and we are all students who need to pass all tests in order to become True Triskelions. Let us not talk first about conquering the universe because we need to conquer first our own family. How do your parents and siblings perceive our Fraternity? Do they like what they see? Or do they complain because you are failing from your studies, or you lack respect, or you’re always drunk, or you do not help in the household chores, etc. If they do have complaints then it’s time to prove them wrong by meeting their expectations and we can all do it because we have the Tenets and Code of Conduct as our guide. All we have to do is follow them religiously; and by doing so, we just conquered ourselves. And once we conquered ourselves, we also conquered our family; and our community; and our City; and our Country; and the World; and the Universe.
The Triskelion is the conglomeration of the three dynamic forces which aims to conquer the Universe.
