In commemoration of National Child Protection Month, The School Welfare Division- GBI was pleased to host activities to celebrate its Annual School Welfare Week.

The 2023 national theme for Child Protection is "One People Uniting to Protect Our Children".

As a result of the recent uptick in the number of cases, The School Welfare Week activities focused on "Su***de, Depression and Anxiety".

The Department of Social Services, School Welfare Division- GBI is elated to partner with educational institutions to better assist students. Recently the School Welfare Division began a new initiative geared to empower and motivate students at various schools on the island of Grand Bahama.

School Social Workers, Ms. Anita Franks, Ms. Nashanda Tate and Ms. Danae Golaz facilitated the Student Empowerment Groups where pertinent topics where discussed to educate, guide and further advance the social intelligence of young students.

This Eight-Week Student Empowerment Groups were a great Success!
