Strengthening connections with our cultural and creative communities across The Bahamas. 🇧🇸

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage recently engaged with stakeholders across Grand Bahama, including meetings with the island’s Junkanoo community, a visit to the Ministry for Grand Bahama, and a Listening Series with local creatives.

The Listening Series provided an opportunity for members of the creative community to share their experiences, perspectives, ideas, and priorities directly with the Ministry.

We extend sincere thanks to the Hon. Ginger Moxey, Minister for Grand Bahama Ministry for Grand Bahama, for sharing her insight and vision. We are proud of the work being done under her leadership to strengthen Grand Bahama’s orange economy and expand opportunities for the island’s creative community.

We thank everyone who participated and look forward to continued engagement with creatives and cultural stakeholders throughout our islands. 🇧🇸

It is with deep sadness that the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage joins the nation in mourning the passing of the Hon. Neville Wisdom, former Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture.

Minister Wisdom dedicated his life to public service, contributing meaningfully to the development of our youth, sports, culture and communities across The Bahamas. As a former Minister entrusted with the culture portfolio, his service remains part of the foundation upon which we continue to build today.

On behalf of the Minister, executive leadership and staff of the Ministry, we extend heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, friends and colleagues.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy of service continue to inspire generations of Bahamians. 🇧🇸

An artistic light has gone far too soon. 🕊️

We join the Bahamian creative community and The Bahamas in mourning the tragic passing of Stefan Davis, a gifted artist whose talent, passion and creativity left an undeniable mark on our cultural landscape.

Through his work, he celebrated our people, culture and identity with incredible artistry and purpose. We honour and thank him for his service to our country and for the invaluable contribution his artistry made to Bahamian culture and our creative community.

We extend our deepest condolences to his children, family, loved ones, friends and all who knew him.

Rest peacefully, Stefan. Your hands may be still, but your art and legacy will continue to speak. 🎨

A new chapter for Bahamian art, culture and heritage. 🇧🇸🎨

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage proudly joined the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas for the official opening of The Cottage, its newly restored administrative home.

Made possible through a generous $250,000 investment from the Baha Mar Resort Foundation, the restoration gives new purpose to a historic Bahamian building while creating additional space within the Gallery for our National Collection, Bahamian artists, and the stories that reflect who we are.

This is preservation with purpose, honouring our past while creating room for the future of Bahamian art. ✨

As a newly established Ministry, staying connected with our stakeholders and hearing from them firsthand is an important part of the work we do. 🇧🇸

Recently, we visited vendors at the Straw Market on Paradise Island and received an update on the construction underway at the historic Water Tower.

It’s always a pleasure to get out, connect with our people, and stay engaged with the work that matters.

Stay tuned for the grand reopening of two of Nassau’s iconic landmarks, the Water Tower and Fort Fincastle, as we celebrate and preserve our rich history and heritage. ✨
