Chhukha Dzongkhag has achieved 100% sterilization of free-roaming or unowned dogs, as declared by the National Task Force on July 15, 2023. The success of this programme is the result of the Nationwide Accelerated Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Programme (NADPM&RCP), which was kick started in February 2022. This included the first series of enumeration of free-roaming or unowned dogs and went through phases of actual implementations which concluded successfully in June 2023.
The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector would like to thank all the Agencies, stakeholders, implementers, Desuups and the general public who supported for the success of this programme in the Dzongkhag. The achievement of 100% sterilization of free-roaming or unowned dogs not only protect the residents in Chhukha Dzongkhag from disease but also would help in controlling the population of dogs in the area.
The success of this programme is a testimony to the hard work of the local government and people who worked tirelessly to achieve the goal. This is a major step forward in ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the residents of Chhukha Dzongkhag.
